Advice on marketing a daily deals website

Hello, I'm a web designer looking to enter the world of internet marketing. I've developed an awesome looking daily deals website that will comprise of cheap products, which will hopefully make some affiliate income, primarily through Amazon.

I've been reading about all the different types of marketing but I'm still not too sure about a strategy on how to market the website. Paid advertising on Facebook perhaps the best way to go?

I've also been playing with the idea of outsourcing marketing and perhaps even content management using platforms such as Upwork. I'm not too sure if this is a good idea in the initial stages however.

If anyone could provide me with some advice or point me in the right direction, I'll be very grateful. The amount of content on this forum is quite overwhelming, so some clear succinct points would be great! Thank you.

The first and most important thing to do for start is to have a way to grab your visitors name and email address, and from there follow up on them. Otherwise it is very unlikely that a first time visitor will buy something from you.

If I were in your shoes, I'd focus on building CREDIBILITY for the site.

You have to answer this question:

Why your site instead of another site?

My answer would take the form of a book that builds credibility by playing to the FEARS and DESIRES of my target audience and uploading that book using related keyword tags. I'd upload to free doc upload sites.

I'd also do guest post marketing linking to those free downloads.

The key here is to create a responsive DEMAND NETWORK for your site based on the solid bedrock of TRUST and CREDIBILITY.

To piggyback off writeaway...is this in a particular niche? is it a particular local area? I think it's easier to execute the kind of strategy to build credibility if you have some limits and structure to the kind of market you're trying to tackle.

Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure if its really a niche, but the site is focused on really cheap deals from a variety of categories - deals that are above a certain price are automatically filtered out and won't make the index. It will be UK based.
