is fiverr still hot?

For me personally, Fiverr is "hot" only in the sense that gigs are cheap and that draws a large crowd of hopefuls. But I personally stay away from Fiverr on purpose because of several things:

1. Quality of Fiverr gigs is all over the map but tends to be mostly low quality because the amount received from gigs doesn't support true industry experts. After Fiverr's cut, supplying a gig typically will garner $4 for the vendor. Those who actually put in work to complete a gig will not find this ROI to be sustainable.
2. Fiverr gigs are notorious for plagiarism, copyright and trademark infringement, and other potential legal problems. Nobody at Fiverr wants to talk about this, but cheap gigs draw amateur vendors (many outside the arm of U.S. law) - they often don't know the law and sometimes could care less as they know there is little chance anyone will come after them when they reside in ChumbaWumba.
3. Fiverr has earned the reputation of thriving on bottom dwellers and the less desirable trade coming from non-professionals who can't really afford to pay professional prices for things like logos, copywriting, graphic design, etc. The marketplace really has no barrier to entry (much like Internet marketing) and so it attracts vendors that may not be experience or qualified to be an expert in their field.

So what I'm saying is that most professionals (both vendors and customers) stay away from the Fiverr marketplace because quality and legal issues are always in question, more so than at other freelance vendor sites.


Yes, I am making some generalizations here - and that won't be fair for a few vendors (extremely few IMO) that are the exception. But if you want to have a credible business, I would suggest you avoid Fiverr altogether.

Fiverr is only going to get bigger and better. They raised $30 Million dollars back in August of 2014 to help improve their platform.

I agree with Steve on most of his comments. There are a lot of duplicated, copied work on sale.

Saying that, I also have success at Fiverr on my design gigs. I do offer some of my custom design work at Fiverr but never for $4 - mostly I do custom work which you can charge anything for and if the client is happy to employ me from Fiverr , I am happy to give them $1 for each $5 I earn.

The services on Fiverr.com are often spot on.

Will you get the best designers, or the best writers on Fiverr?

Probably not, but what do you want for $5?

Try to find services elsewhere for $5 and you'll come up short.

I've made over 5000 dollars with Fiverr.

The secret?

Focus on ROE-return on effort.

Offer only services that don't take you much time to provide.

As much as possible, offer products that you create once and sell many times over.

Make sure you spell out the rights you're giving buyers when selling products.

I love Fiverr but it's not a way to make serious money unless you have a very hot selling gig that is either automated or takes very little time.

I think some people try to use Fiverr to try to lure customers off Fiverr but honestly that doesn't work, most people willing to spend real money are not shopping for graphic design work on Fiverr. That said I do regularly buy services and there are some diamonds in the rough for graphic designers on there and you can get some great work done for cheap.

As far as selling on Fiverr my advice is offer gigs that are cut and dry. I'll tweet your message to my 50k followers. There's no asking for redo's, there's not a lot of time invested, there's no differing of opinions on whether a good job was done.

I find buyers expect way too much for their money and you could literally spend 3-4 hours to make $4. I used to offer consulting gigs and I met some really great interesting people who I still network with but I would wind up spending an hour and a half on skype coaching someone on private labeling or ebay or something, all for 4 bucks.

I've refined my gigs to things like I'll ping your website, I'll leave you youtube comments, I'll give you a list of hot selling ebay items. All things which take me 3 minutes or less to do.

You can get some nice logos and banners done for a fiver. And you can specify how you want it so there is no copying, or infringing copyrighted work. But logos and banners are all I use it for on the odd occasion that I do use it.

Fiverr is great if you need something fast and have a tiny budget. I've seen fiverr gigs for writing Amazon listings and they are quite good. It really depends on what the task is. If I need a quick logo for something I'm trying out I always give them a try. I also have a go to contractor I;ve used a ton of times so that helps quite a bit.

If you're looking to make money on there, like the others said, find something that doesn't take much time to produce and that you can do over and over again. Maybe even a special affect of some sort with a logo. Like a video intro. Make it so you can just pop a new logo in and you're done. Just a thought.

Fiverr is rubbish what I got is all low quality work! It is not so hot now, it is best to skip Fiverr and look for alternative!

Yup Fiverr is still hot. I put up a gig on Fiverr for a 1,000 word article for $5. I put a money back guarantee on it for QUALITY sake, and I got an order within 24 hours. The article took me 20 minutes to write, and the client was thrilled.

Simple, but like Steve B said... "Those who actually put in work to complete a gig will not find this ROI to be sustainable." I'd still be trading time for money. So it's basically a work from home JOB. I don't like jobs. I like high, 97% automated income.

I lost interest in Fiverr long time back having made good number of sales because a lot of junk sellers started entering the arena and blew up the market.

I'm making consistent income on fiverr (level 2 seller) over the past two years.

If you know how to position yourself, you'll make more than $5 per gig.

In under a year I've earned over $6k via only fiverr. I recommend not just using it to sell services but use it to promote your services off of fiverr as well. Make sure to promote yourself way before you even place your gig. And don't bug other sellers with referrals. OMG.. I hate that.

You can make some great money if you are determined and pick a gig that is easy for you to provide quickly and with tons of quality.

I bought a lot of things on Fiverr (and their competitors) and close to never been disappointed unless two times : first time by a Chinese designer (a ugly banner as I never saw) and second one by an English to French translator (he didn't know the specific field at all -- software's EULA).

Also, I had to cancel some orders because of big delay or no reply after I placed the order, but it's not specific to Fiverr...

I think that the low-cost platforms like Fiverr are still hot for quick and ponctual jobs if you know what you're looking for (ie. with a request as accurate as possible).

I have several on there that I am selling but I am not using it as my main focal business since Fiverr seems to be slowing down for me. Any advice?

I have experience with buying and selling on fiverr. You can sell quality work on fiverr for more than $5. There are all of the extras to add to the price. As for being a seller, sell a high quality product and make at least $5. If you are buying, yes the market is saturated in just about every market. You need to review each seller very carefully. You need to check out their work and their feedback. You need to talk to each person, give exact details on what you want, and feel out if you can work with them.

So yes, I feel that fiverr is still alive and working well.....

Fivver is brilliant for banners and site logos. Why pay $50 when you can get the same thing done (exactly as you specify, or even better) for $5 to $10. I will always get banners and logos done on Fivver now. I made the mistake of paying too much in the past for banner creation. There are some excellent logo/banner designers on Fivver.

The Fiverr is good, Beside the Fiverr there are some more site also good. Such as Upwork, Freelancer. Fiverr deduct $1 from per gigs of $5. On the other hand if I earn $5 by using the Upwork, it will deduct $0.5. So I think the Fiverr should decrease the charge. Thanks

I've hard half good work and half bad work made by users at fiverr. I can't comment much on trying to make money but when trying to get started as a business, you can find a lot of opportunities for your buck.
5 dollars can get you started really in no time.

I've bought about 250 gigs on fiverr and it is a good site.
Especially for beta testing and product improvements.
If you really go big with it and post an ad for beta testers and feedback with a few people you can make a feature rich app to compete with any major site for a few thousand dollars.
It is true many of the article writers are low quality but you can find some good ones and if you do, create systems where they can login and add blog content or use a plugin to upload the word document they send and immediately create a blog post, pictures and all out of it (docx converter plugin) So yeah fiverr has some good points. You can authorize paypal too for rapid ordering so if you have a few hundred dollars you can buy a bunch at one time. Other than that yeah freelancer and guru are generally better but guru has $25 minimum. Freelancer is probably best talent pool but their pop ups and site speed are ******* annoying (no offense because I know they own warrior forum too but it is the truth and it would be easy to implement a pop up shut off for the buyers who just want to browse people to hire).

I personally think that it is getting a little bit crowded but most of the people who are doing it aren't doing a very good job of it. They kind of go 75% in, so if you design a better gig, provide better service, and in most cases over deliver then yes it is still hot.

I think maximum time fiverr is good because here you visit & see your support cost too low cost only $5 you get a nice design from here. That's good sign I think.

Its a thriving site, so its hot but its still not a good place to get work done. Yeah its all cheap but mostly not worth a lot. paying someone 4/5$ for work is silly too. Unless it takes you 5 minutes to make that 5$ it doesent make any sense.

Fiverr is still awesome if you have some real skill. It is much better than Freelancer and other sites where you have to compete with other people to get any job.

Yes Fiverr have lots of newbie that are ruining its name. But if you see from a positive angle then its good. Because if you ca do better work then you can easily gain more popularity. Once you have good reviews then the orders will keep coming...

So I would suggest that first learn some real skill and then work on Fiverr.

Fiverr is still hot. I made $4K from Fiverr last year (part-time). Well if you have something to sell, you can definitely get in.

Sure Fiverr is still hot, I made some money there myself by writing original articles for customers just a few months ago and it's a great way to gain potential customers for various projects.

But, the work I put down exceeded the general income I received, meaning that I basically worked my ass off, excuse the language, and got 30 % worth of income for the time I put down.

So what I'm saying is that Fiverr is a good place to start because it's easy to get started and if you truly have a quality service to offer, then great.

But in the end you want to take your business to other sites or start your own if you want a sustainable income that matches your time and commitment. Hope this helped!

SEO Clerks is much better than fiverr you can charge any price you want plus you can make big money if you are doing any link building, making your own software, video marketing or videos in general, coding, hosting, selling proxies, social signals, etc

Fiverr is a great platform. It was rocking in 2014/2015. I haven't received any order in this new year. Also the page views are getting low day by day. Don't know what is happening

I make VERY good money on fiverr and often get orders of 60,70, 80 dollars, my highest has been 130 dollars in one order.

My hourly wage working on fiverr is equal to roughly $70, it certainly beats a lot of other jobs.

It's a great marketplace, you just need something unique to sell and be able to offer upsells your clients just can't resist

Fiver was great a few years ago. Hey, for $5 I could get quality gigs. Sadly, there are no more gold nuggets in that river. All that is left is mud and mire. 90% of the people I did business with are gone. Need we add, it is the good ones... They got tired of working for pennies. Basically, after a few hours of work, they make $3.92 for one gig. Please add that Fiver puts a 20 day hold on your money. Pay Pal put a three day hold to prevent fraud, or so they say. Oh wow, that is 23 days to access your green. Well, it is no wonder that almost all of the good people are gone.

I started to work on fiverr almost three months ago. Starting month was rough and I didn't receive any order. I received my first order in the beginning of second month. I have made total of 25$.

I won't consider fiverr hot, it's better if you turn to freelancer or upwork.

You have bunch of people who are out there and they are using fiverr as a sellers. You need to stand out with 5 dollar service from which your cut is actually 4 dollars which is not that much if you think about it .

and that's hard ....But if you do you can earn nice few bucks to pay hosting ad stuff like that. I personally had good time with that when I was investing more time in fiverr like optimizing description , adding video.

I believe Fiverr is still hot. I used to make $2000 - $3000 per month selling SEO services. I did that for about 2 years. But then what I was doing was no longer effective after the GOOGLE updates.

But nowadays, you have an option to charge a lot more than $5. I know literally HUNDREDS of people are making a full time monthly income using Fiverr.

So if this is what you're wanting to make some income from, I would suggest that you do your research carefully and find the gigs that you can offer with a minimum amount of time and start offering upsells.

If I had to start all over again, I would start with this without a second thought.

If it is the same old stuff ,then it would be pretty difficult to enter in the massive crowd

More so there are new platforms(Similar to Fiverr) coming up as people know it will be a big advantage for the owners and for the sellers and people r pretty tempted to join ,as quite a few people are facing issues displaying their gigs on top on Fiverr

In short if you can provide something out of the ordinary ,you can make a good income on Fiverr and if not please search for other platforms

It's good if you find a good gig. If you are a seller it probably sucks.

I use Fiverr all the time. The key is finding quality gig providers. I normally aim for 5 star level gig providers. Overall, I love Fiverr.

For me Fiverr has only been good to find cheap services but not for selling. I guess it could be different for others. I never really gave it my all as I don't think the $4 was much of a profit.
