How to sell from your blog
I am creating this post today in hopes it will help some of you who are just getting started with blogging or have been blogging for a while with little results.
When I first started blogging I had no direction or purpose for what I was doing. I was creating content because I heard "creating content is what blogging is all about."
But at the end of each month my blog was bringing in zero profits. If you want to be successful with a blog you have to sell. Regardless of your method of monetizing your blog you have to sell!
This doesn't mean that you have to be pushy and put huge banner ads on your blog. It means that you have to write content with a purpose and encourage people to take action on that purpose. Not just writing content for the sake of writing content.
Maybe you are promoting certain types of affiliate offers. You look at that affiliate offer and you think "what type of people would be interested in purchasing this affiliate offer." what problems are they having that this offer will solve? What would people with this problem be searching for?
Now you have your basis to write content that sells. And when you write great content and deliver serious value it does the selling for you. Then at the end of your blog post you put a call to action about where they can get more.
This could be a link to your squeeze page that gets them on your email list so you can promote affiliate offers to them that way. Or it can be a link directly to the affiliate offer you are promoting.
Final words: Don't be afraid to sell. Write content with a purpose.
Oh, and one final note. This doesn't have to be affiliate offers. It could be your own products, Service, or anything else you want to promote with a blog.
