Is Content Locking Memberships a Good Business Model?

Hi,

2 months ago, Ive asked on this forum about creating news website and I didnt take good feedbacks. So Ive changed my mind to doing what I mostly understand; game tips, fixes, tutorials, course videos creating and selling.

So, about this type of membership model; Ive locked some text contents and video tutorials, courseworks etc. on this section articles: Guides | Newslopedy.com

Example Locked Content: How to Run “Sword Coast Legends” Game Faster and Lower Your GPU Usage? | Newslopedy.com
(Videos and some text contents are locked out and can only be accessed by premium members)
Premium Membership Page:
Premium Membership | Newslopedy.com

I even uploaded some of my tutorial videos on youtube and I get positive feedbacks.
So is it a good and potential business model?
Can I sell memberships by this method?

What do you think about it?
-Please give me your feedbacks...

I think one of the bad thing is the domain name. So it must be changed to game related.

    Hey isodownload,

I think it really depends on how you set it up. If your "teaser" or "lead-magnet" is good enough, people will be curious what they'll get when they pay and might join your site.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    Aron

As a gamer myself here are my thoughts:
      - If I have a problem with a game or if I try to make it run smoother on my pc I usually google to solution or check on a forum online.
      - I would not pay for that information
      - People generally only care about information on their game(s)
      - Many others offer the same information for free
      - If money is your focus I would suggest you target adult gamers since they usually are willing to pay more for their hobby.
      - Your site has many grammar and spelling errors - now, I'm not a native english speaker myself, but many people will not take your site serious with such basic errors and are not likely to purchase anything from you.
      - Apart from spelling and grammar errors your site also has further design flaws, like the font is too big in your pulldown menus
      - You are trying to do too much at the same time focus on one topic only and remove all other content - once you are established you can grow bigger again.

Your blog posts may be very helpful for gamers who have that one problem and it is a great way to get new visitors to your blog if you post the link in forums where people have that particular problem. If I were you I would also add gaming related news, some game reviews, more tips & tricks ... And try to get advertisement directly from gaming companies once you have a steady flow of traffic. (they pay a LOT for ads on high authority sites). Also build up your youtube channel and monetize it.
Once established you could also see if you get hardware companies to send you free stuff to review or as a giveaway and later they may also pay you for a review.
But this is all really hard work and will take a lot of time to get to a point where you can make a substantial amount of income so if you are not truly passionate about it I would suggest you write game guides to very popular games, people buy them. Or make a membership site with hearthstone mastery classes where you keep everything up to date to keep them coming back.
