Clickbank Hops-How many hops a day is good???

Hello Warriors,

If your marketing using free methods I was wondering how many hops a day would you consider to be decent? If your getting 20-30 hops a day for a one product should you go ahead and start a different campaign? I figure the more mud you sling on the wall the better chance you have of getting something to stick.

Thanks
Scott

1 million per second.. not stopping to infinity and increasing to 2 million per second for the festive period each year..

    Hehe.

Really you want to be getting that amount (maybe someone has lol) but it's not the optimum amount that's important it's about increasing the amount as much as you possibly can.

I would say about 1,000 hops per day per product is a decent goal.

Even with a low 1% conversion that makes you a super affiliate, and it's not hard at all if you know what you're doing.

Some people will come here and say that some niches don't allow for such traffic, that's absolutely false.

By using horizontal marketing, plus targeting related audiences and demographics, massive amounts of targeted traffic can be generated for any niche.

But you shouldn't be asking how many hops are decent using free methods.

You should be asking at what point can you start reinvesting the money generated using those free methods.

There are limits to what a single man/woman alone can do, if you really want to make great profit then you better start thinking in terms of business and investment.

I think that in the first week or two, your main goal should be to get 100 hops per day (super targeted). If you have a good affiliate product and targeted leads, you should have a conversion rate of about 1:25. That means 4 sales per day which is a normal salary!
As you get up to 1,000 hops per day, the hops are usually less targeted, but you'll still be making great money with a good conversion rate.

you shouldn't really limit yourself to the amount of hops you get each day.

The more the better. Think about it, if you are promoting a product that converts then the more hops you get is the more sales you will get as well.

If you want something to work with though, then try to double your previous day's hops everyday.

So if you get 30 hops today, aim for 60 tomorrow and continue to grow!

I wasn't sure whether to add this question here or make a new post... But how do you know when to let a product go and move on? What is your breaking point of hops per sale? How many hops will you watch go by with no sale before you move on to something else?

This will vary from product to product because some products converts better than others.

      However,

I would say if you send over 1000 targeted hops with no sale then is is time to move on for sure.

  • The only thing that matters is conversions. Hops don't equal money. So if you have 10 hops and 2 conversions then that's better than 100 hops and 1 conversion right?

So is 30 good? Well it is if it makes money. Are you making money? That's the real question.

Wow! Excellent and overwhelming answers! My mind is swimming! Let me take these one at a time and pick at your brains Even though I'm still learning I think I could get to the 100 hops a day level. But honestly, I would KILL to have a 1:25 conversion rate! Heck, right now I would kill to have 1:100!!! That seems to be one of the most frustrating things I'm dealing with so far. Hops but very few conversions. I have seen some post going on about CB sellers getting 100's of hops without a conversion and how they think CB is possibly shaving commissions. I don't know if I buy into that theory. But what does say if you can persuade over 100 people to click through to a pitch page without a conversion? Not targeting the correct audience? Not filling the correct needs in my articles? If I can ever figure out that mystery I think I'll have this IM beast figured out!

The work I have put in vs. the conversion rates are terrible so far. I'm still learning and I guess this is just part of it. I'm getting people to the pitch page I've just got to figure out how the heck to get them to pull out the old wallet

Ever since I found out the Nobel Peace Prize came with a lot of cash, I'd kill for one of them too.

Tommygadget posted some numbers about one of his cb projects and he had over 300 targeted hops without a sale. He didn't attribute it to cb screwing him around but to something he hadn't put in place yet. (can't remember what.) It can get quite high depending on how the product converts.

I like Daniel Molano's comments about traffic. Get enough of that and you will get at least one person dum enough to buy anything. (That's from my perspective, being one of the cheaper people around.)

      I disagree.

Conversions are entirely secondary. Simply because there will be no conversions without traffic.

Not to mention you cannot test conversions without it.

You should also be using a split test script to check for worthwhile products.

One of those that rotates affiliate links.

Grab 5 or so products, insert the affiliate links on the script, so that each time a visitor clicks on the link, they will be redirected to a different offer.

That's the only way to do an effective split test because it measures all traffic from a specific source at the same times of day.

It's the closest thing to isolating all variables.

Otherwise you would be messing it up because factors such as day of week, time of day, source of traffic to mention a few do alter sale patterns big time.

Anyway, yes, conversions are entirely secondary. You cannot even begin to improve them until you have massive amounts of targeted traffic.

This is a really hard question to answer. Often it's not just the number of hops you have to look at, but also the quality. Where are they coming from? How are you getting them? How targeted are they?

You can try and throw lots of mud up and see what sticks, but focus on building your hops day to day. The days of throwing heaps of crap up and seeing what sticks is over. You can't expect to do 1000000 hops from day one.

Start with 20-30. Then increase traffic from SEO or PPC or any other method. Build it up. If you've got a solid site, then you'll be able to grow it.

Sorry if this doesn't give you an actionable step, but you've gotta change how you see affiliate marketing. Let me know if you want a more detailed explanation.

Don't worry too much about it.

200 TARGETED hops per day would be decent. The better converting clickbank products, can convert at around 3% if promoted properly, so 200 hops = 6 sales.

A mistake that many people do is that they try to bring spammy junk traffic, and you see them making a thread, "I have 3000 hops but no sales, Is clickbank cheating"

Just focus on quality targeted traffic, not quantity. When you manage to bring in quality traffic, simply try to replicate your methods to bring more quality traffic.

Are talking about direct linking here or presell pages before?

I'm guessing somebody who click through from a presell page is more targeted than somebody who just click on adwords ad?

Is it ok to do a direct adwords ad test, maybe 100 hops before deciding to ditch the campaign or no?

I think you should get at least 1000 hops on a product before you decide if it will sell or not. I've had it happen quite a few times that 300, 400, or even 500 hops go by without a sale, then 3 sales in the next 50 hops and so on, where it averages out to 1:100 or better by the time you hit 1000.

Great point about waiting for 1000 hops before conversions, believe it or not ive had a clickbank product convert after only 6 hops.
