Looking at buying a domain for evergreen high comp niche.

****.******.com is obviously taken and worth over a million quid (estimate)
****.*****.fyi (for your info) is not taken.

Reckon it is worth a gamble or reckon it could be very hard to get traffic to?

I would always stick with a .com extension; the newer extensions might one day become popular but might not. People are used to .com and remember it and view the extension as more credible and .com ranks better than other extensions with google. If I couldn't get a .com I would consider .net/.info or .org or consider an alternative domain name.

Let's say the name you wanted is BobsBagels.com but it is already registered.

So you decide to register BobsBagels.fyi and figure it's the next best thing.

There are domainer Warriors here (professionals) that will suggest this is not the best way to choose a business name - to go about "settling" for a lesser extension. They say you will always lose traffic to the dot com version of the domain name because it's what people will intuitively seek when they are looking for your site.

I would suggest you keep looking for a great dot com domain. There are plenty of excellent names available - use Impossibility.org or LeanDomainSearch.com to help you find a dot com you can register today.

I use the new TLDs all day long with good luck. Fact is, 99.9999999999999999999999999% of the good .coms are gone, it is time to move on.

I registered a few .today domain names and they can fit with what you are selling.
