Best Click/Link Tracking Software

Hey Warriors,

First of all: I did search the forum for previous versions of this question but found that the threads were a little bit old and this is the sort of stuff that changes quite fast.

So I am looking for a click tracker software that does the following:

- Allows me to manage multiple projects in an lean-designed dashboard
Say I have 5 websites: I want to manage each of them individually and so want to have the ability to to different tracking for each one.

- Allows me to sub-divide each type of traffic in a project
Say that for website A I have three types of traffic incoming: blog commenting, guest posting and YouTube videos. I want to able to sort them out by these types of traffic, effectively diving into those categories to see stats. This will allow me to see much faster which YouTube is performing better from all of the videos I have. Even better would be to then segment those videos, if possible. Like one type would be HD videos, another would be screen videos and then another would be powerpoint presentations with just music.

- Allows me to check conversions of a link
I want to be able to see, inside the software, if the click/person generated the action that I want, such as subscribe, or buy something, or complete a questionnaire. Seeing if people click is of no value if they I can't track my desired outcome.

I'm relying on the expertise of Warriors here

Do you have any recommendations?

Also: it would be cool if you could share a little more of your experience with tracking and let me know if I am forgetting some key metrics (which I most definitely am)

Cheers
Dan

I have my doubts that you'll be able to find a platform where all of the affiliate networks are cooperating in providing statistics to their clients. It's possible. Maybe an idea for a start-up if you can convince the major players to cooperate.

I think a large part of what you are looking for can be provided by using one of the more sophisticated tracking services like Clickmeter or Volluum. I don't know how many affiliate links you have set-up and how long or difficult it would be for you to alter them, but my recollection is that most of the affiliate sites allow you to customize your links for more precise targeting.

You could then have your tracking service of choice transform the link into one of theirs (this in no way eliminates your original tracking link) and you would be able to see all your statistics at the same site and, possibly, all on the same page.

    Good luck

I'm pretty sure ClickMagick meets all of the above criteria.

    Hi Dan,

Have you tried Google Analytics combined with Google's URL Builder?

It's amazing what it can do. I'm pretty sure it will do all that for you.

Check out Google's training on the Analytics platform. It's pretty full-on!

In general, I always thought that was the purpose of adding Google analytics, and using a unique tid for each campaign to determine the source from whence it came.

I also keep a hidden statcounter in my pages as they offer up some decent data.

I mean it would be cool if there were a WP plugin or something that could be accessed in one app or plugin though.

Voluum is the most powerful all in one tracking software. It's geared more towards direct response affiliates but would work well for what you do.

As an example, I input and label all of my offer links into voluum. Than I load up all of my presale pages. When ever I want to run a campaign, I simply choose the presale and offer, and it instantly generates a link. I can add in as many more offers/presales as I want under the same campaign, and set the weight of traffic going to each.

It lets you split out anything you can think of. Mobile, desktop, device, location, etc. You can also sort and track all of the above. Voluum is a flat $100 a month, and a steal at that price.

      Hey Path Theory,

Yeah I knew about that one and the pricing is quite high for what I need. I do realize it does a whole other bunch of stuff for I think I can find alternatives for less.

      Thanks for the help

Funnel Flux is also another alternative, it does have a trial, but I think it is $99/month now (so same price as voluum). It does some pretty interesting stuff and has a visual funnel builder too. I use this one myself.

I would look into google analytics and associated google links builder if you are willing to invest the time to learn what it can do. But I guess with any tracker, it takes a bit of time to become familiar with it.

An alternative to google analytics is also Piwik, and they also have a URL builder. It free and open source. Not 100% sure if it will do all you need it to, but might be worth a look.

    Hi Dan

Most good trackers should do what you need, but I'd definitely recommend you check out ClickMagick.

In addition to the usual tracking features, CM allows you to place retargeting pixels on third party sites along with popups, and a whole lot of other features which are available on all their plans. Even if you don't need all the features at this stage, it's nice to have them available should you need them.

ClickMagick is also very good value IMHO, with excellent support.
