Hello!

I want to sell my website in near future, but I have never sold a website before.
I have some questions, because I don't seem to understand how the site transfer quite happens.

So what's the process? The buyer trannsfers me the money and I give him what? How do I give him access to the site? How do i re-register the domain name to him? What to do with the hosting?

Best regards,
Martin

You need to transfer domain to him and then give him your website files, so he can set it up at his hosting...

    Safest way:

Buyer sends money to escrow service
Escrow confirms they have the money and to release the site
You transfer domain and files to buyer
Escrow service confirms domain is transferred
    Escrow releases funds to you

As a seller, you don't want to give someone your site without receiving payment before hand. As a buyer, you don't want to pay before receiving anything. The escrow service acts as a middleman that ensures a fair transaction.

You simply 'push' the domain from your account to theirs. Tell them to get an account wherever the domain is registered. They should have their own hosting, so you can cancels yours if you don't need it. Lastly, you can either send them the files in a zip, have them take the files from your server (if nothing else important is there) or set the site up on their host (if they're unfamiliar with doing it themselves. It really depends on the deal you strike as to how to handle the files themselves.
