According to this page S2Member does that.

S2Member is well supported and has a free (but still heavy duty) version and paid versions.

Be prepared for a learning curve with it!

    Hey Tim,

I personally use Paid Memberships Pro. The plugin is free to use, and has great compatibility with both bbPress and BuddyPress available.

    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    Aron

Edit: another great one is Membership 2 from WPMUDEV

Have you considered all your integration needs?

I recently built a membership site. The script had to integrate with WP Courseware and Clickbank. That left me with only three or four potential membership plugins to choose from.

It also depends on your aims. If you are running a monthly membership, say, and you need a heavy duty and dependable plugin, then something like MemberMouse is very good. It's solid and clean, and allows a great deal of self-service from the members (e.g. upgrade/downgrade plans, cancel, change usernames). But if you need something just to arbitrarily protect content, you could go for a cheaper option like Wishlist.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have the same question.

I began with a product called InstaMember. I spent weeks getting the content set up, but found at the end that I cannot get it to connect through JVZoo (I want to have an affiliate component to my membership site).

I'm SO mad at myself for not doing more exhaustive research before I purchased. But here I am.

Anyway, I will be investigating all of these options.

Can anyone specifically answer as to whether any of these products are better/worse at integrating with JVZoo or Clickbank?

My goal is for customers to pay through the affiliate network, then to get automatically be sent login credentials to my site.

    Thanks!

    Pat

P.S. Has anyone had success with InstaMember? Could anyone provide a reference where I could get some tech support (besides the incapable developer)?

Membermouse and Wishlist integrate fine with Clickbank. MM has a free trial, so you can try it out for yourself. Wishlist doesn't, but it is an official partner of Clickbank and is well battle-tested over the years.

But their features, like those of most membership plugins, do vary from each other. You need to be clear on how you want your site to operate before taking the plunge. I spent far longer than I'd have liked trying to find a combo of host, membership plugin, and courseware plugin which all played nicely with each other, whilst also giving all the features I wanted.

For example: one of the downsides with Membermouse is that it does not do full translation; if you're running a non-English website, that can be a dealbreaker. It also costs a fair chunk of change each month, and may be unnecessarily robust if you're just looking for a way to protect content rather than handle a membership infrastrcture.

  • Optimize Press' OptimizeMember plugin works well with BBPress.

You must have missed a setting or something. Instamember works just fine with JVZoo. In fact, one of the strengths of Instamember is that there are very few platforms it doesn't integrate with.

Did you enable JVZoo in the Set-up>Payments field and set the secret key? http://screencast.com/t/5vjcRpFzX

I've used Wishlist in the past, but it can be expensive.
The most successful membership model I used was Aweber via Clickbank.
Easy to set up and maintain.

DAP (Digital Access Pass) will do all you need, but depends on your budget.

Wishlist Member is a great membership plugin and it does integrate with jvzoo, and I believe it (now) has integration with bbpress and buddypress.

Another one to look at is Magic Members - definitely integrates with bbpress and buddypress, but might need investigating to see if it integrates seamlessly with jvzoo.
