I am checking out a website that's for sale in Flippa.com.

They claim the articles are unique but how can I be sure?

In copyscape some of the articles turn up elsewhere 100% word for word.

For example:
Electronic Dog Training Collar - Educate Your Dog
http://ezinearticles.com/?Electronic...llar&id=711105

How do I know which one is copying and which one is unique?

  • Obviously, the Flippa seller is full of crap. The post from EZineArticles is from 2007. The post on Educate Your Dog is only 24 hours old.

We can do even better, though, and I'm surprised if Copyscape didn't pick them all up. If you search Google for the first sentence of the article, here are the results (fills 2 pages!):

    https://www.google.com/search?q=Usin...m=122&ie=UTF-8

What's really odd, though, is that ALL of those results have one of two dates: Sept 21, 2015. and October 6, 2015. The original 2007 post from EZineArticles doesn't even show (which isn't surprising based on Google's newer algorithms).

Either Mr. Flippa is reselling the same dog blog over and over, but changing the name each time, or someone is setting up a bunch of throwaway blogs just for the purpose of using them to link to his main site.

Btw, the correct spelling is 'plagiarism.'

Duh! Silly me.. I should have checked the dates first.. thanks for pointing that out...

Yeah.. the guy is doing what you suggested first, he is selling the same site over and over again... and he's getting away with it.. and noobs are bloody buying them, sweet jesus...that makes my skin crawl. Especially the fact that when the noobs question him about the duplicate content, he talks them into believing that it is fine and G likes dup content... and of course he knows better than the noob so the noob buys them and the cycle continues..

...and he got all self rightous and defensive about it when I had him up about it...
first he claimed that 95% of his content is 85 - 90% unique which is crap because it isn't... more like 10%.. and then he went on a big spiel to me in a defensive manner backing up his right to use copied content.. and saying all his content is indexed and that's what is important, here is a small bit of it...

.. quote "Google won't de-index you duplicate content - that's nonsense. Perhaps 5 years ago that was the case but no more. I have personal sites with bits of duplicate content like this averaging 20,000 visitors a month and growing.
Google now likes 65-70% - This is as unique as it gets on todays Internet - all search engines understand this. Uniqueness is not a main ranking parameter that it once was. Internal and external linking is far more important (I include several outstanding software plugins for this purpose alone in all my sites). Tens of millions of articles are "scraped" each day and copied directly to other websites. I cannot - nor can anyone else out there EVER guarantee 100% uniqueness. If anyone claims they can, do not believe them. RSS feeds are duplicating content millions of times daily" -end quote.

What do you guys think of that? is he right? .. God I hope not...

The other crazy thing is.. what the hell is Google doing about these scraped spammy sites.. bloody sweet bugger all if you ask me.. just like you said.. where the hell is that ezine article.. that's the original article and it's not even on the serps, just his spammy sites are...

Does Google really not care about duplicate content like he says? I sure do, I hate it... I'm talking about entire articles word for word here.. not an excerpt or small bit .. of course that is fine. But when someone steals an entire article and doesn't even bother to change it and then goes on to rank it above the original.. well that just sucks doesn't it?

#1 rule when dealing with scammers, don't do anything, move on, it's likely you have no idea how the scam works, even if you think you do, you don't. It's a magic trick, the magician won't tell you how the trick works, don't bother asking, just clap and move on.

Most of us have been scammed in this caper. The best way to prevent this is to deal only with reputable and honest marketers. It does not take a lot of time to discover the honest guys who deliver great products and service.Once you find them stick with them

A little bit of truth wrapped in a bunch of falsehoods.

TIP: The DATE is the first thing you look for - it's an easy clue. Dates far apart usually indicate plagiarized articles - close together may be PLR.

No one can guarantee 100% unique articles because there are phrases and terms that people use frequently in English and those might show up. No big deal - and the average person should be smart enough to figure that out. When a full line or paragraph - or full article - is repeated....it's not 'random'.

If I saw articles like this - I'd move on. You won't convince this seller it's wrong...he's making money so he doesn't care. You won't convince some buyers because they'll believe anything until they get skinned.

One thing I have seen done - by people who were members of this forum - is this:

Marketers who had published multiple articles or specific niche articles on EZA and other article directories were also selling those articles (years later) as "PLR".

To me that's a scam in itself. They write articles - publish them on a directory where others are permitted to take and use the same article...then 3-4 years later they SELL those articles as 'PLR packs'? What a racket. Copyscape Premium is your friend - use it and use your common sense.

Search Both posts on Google and look for the dates of indexing and also the date when article is written. I hope you will find the differences between them.

Wow!! it is really simple to fin out which one is the plagiarism & which one is original. If you found there are two content is same, you have to take a glance on the Date of the content. After taking a look on the date you will be able to declare which one is original & which one is the plagiarism. Thanks a lot.

Not quite. I could copy a post from your site and use it to create a new post on my site, but use a creation date before yours. Still doesn't make mine the original post, though.

People change the dates on posts all the time, for various reasons.

Either way, even if the site on flippa was the original it sounds like a headache you'd want to avoid

This is why I do not enjoy using FLIPPA anymore. They are FLIPPING crazy. Junk sites that belong in a TRASH can. What do we say. I think they are on the way out as there are just too many sites that are not worth it to bother finding the few gems. Most of us wonder what the future will bring us. Personally, it is going to be a long time for them to do a reputation repair. Customers are running away. Keep on testing the vendors promises.

Back a few years ago. I really did like FLIPPA, but that seems like a long time ago. BTW, sad sense seems to pay less and less every year. Blame the smart phone rising. Those digital dollars are turning into cell phone pennies.

very good question. Not only the flippa, but also other site, where the site selling & buying are available, there may occur this kind of plagiarism. Actually the site owner made this kinds of plagiarism to make instant profit.

You will be able to know which is original by checking the posting date only. The posting earlier is original & the later is plagiarism. Thanks a lot.
