Short answer: it depends.

Long answer: it depends on your abilities, your expertise, your goals, and to some degree your interests. It also depends on how much time and money you can invest.

There are thousands of ways to make money online. But, it comes down to what, of value, can you provide someone that they'll happily pay you for? It may be a service or a product.

For services and eproducts, think about what you're knowledgeable about and then identify problems you can solve.

For physical products, think about what people are buying and how you can improve the value or perceived value of those products. Lower prices, branding, presentation, etc.

Only you can truly determine what's right for you.

It took years of development for me to try a number of different ways and to figure out what didn't work and what I didn't enjoy. But that lead me to what works for me. And that's building a brand of products that customers need to replenish and thus reorder regularly.

What are you passionate about? What are your skills? Are expert at something? Only you can figure out what kind of business to start.

Figure out what you can provide that people will use and love.

After that, the money just falls into place.

As everyone suggested, nobody can determine what's right for you.

My focus has always been on creating digital products and distribution, and even with nearly all the pieces at my disposal, I too was racking my brain, and over-thinking too many factors.

In scaling back to a good starting point, something I have made money at was writing reviews, articles, and teaser posts that engage, inform, and get the readers to take an action.

Could be, capturing their email (lead generation)

Downloading a free ebook, with my affiliate links or website address platered inside.

Could be just having them land on a webpage that exploits the benefits of a product, and leads to an affiliate referral or commission.

Many scream, pursue your passion, but I often wondered; " if the makers of Charmin toilet paper had a passion for whiping people's backsides?"

Point being, the internet has legit 'customer service jobs' with real companies that pay $11 - $16 per hour.

A professional blogger can earn 10's of thousands of dollars from adsense, selling ad spots, and promoting the tools and resources they use to run their own business.

Others become Youtube celebrities, and show women "How to apply make up" and make massive money.

You can sell physical products or promote Amazon's products as an affiliate.

If you like writing, you can write Kindle books, sell articles, or use your skills in 1000 different ways... ( this is where I lost my mind... Couldn't settle on one, so I studied them all, lol)

People manage other peoples social media posts and comments.

You can sell mobile apps and create & manage leads for offline businesses, and get paid.

Or

You can read until your head explodes... Endless posts of people who find the warrior forum and want the money... But, refuse to take action.

Personally, I believe learning the ropes with affiliate marketing is a great starting place, as it's free to join affiljate programs, they offer tools & resources to get you going, and the right person can make damn good money publishing content geared towards making affiliate commissions.

Generally, to get started... A domain, hosting, Aweber (or equal AR) and some common sense goes a long way.

In closing remember one thing if nothing less...

If you want to make money online, you need to sell or promote something...anything really ( preferrably quality & value).

Do not get stuck being the buyer. Be the seller as fast as possible. Only buy what your business requires.

It seems like the first thing you need is discipline and focus before you can even venture into doing anything. You have to learn to take the first step in order to accomplish anything.

It really depends on how much risk you can manage. Personally I'm bored unless it feels like my business is in the middle of an earth quake, with bombs exploding all around it, and I'm under imminent attack from giant robots. So I like to make sure I have 25k in credit card debt (it's ok, I get 2% cashback) company bank account is empty, and then somehow have to figure out a way to get it all to work. I always do it, sometimes it requires some creative thinking. I'm completely sure 99% of WF would think I was insane if I showed them my bank statements.

But if the pressure isn't really on me, I end up wasting time doing things like replying to posts on forums.

Next, of course you need to grab the attention of that market, show them the value that you can offer, get them to sign up to your newsletter and subscribe to your RSS news feeds, etc. -- Advertise. Do this in a way that can give your brand top of mind retention even when not everyone who sees your ads respond to it right away, and especially package it in a way that will make your target customers talk about not just your brand, products and service offers, but also the entertainment value of your ads and promotional materials ...

There are alot of businesses that you can scale and make big. It's all about the marketing - that's what you're seeming to misunderstand, and it's probably why you're losing your mind. Become a master marketer and you won't have this problem.

That is really hard question dude. A lot of people are struggling with that. You have a lot options to make money online but a lot of scammers also. Find your passion except making money and follow that. One of my friends find it successful with bee keeping. I don't think it is ok to specify that it is online the only way to make money, what i would do is search some alternative ways to make money. I think at first most of people start out wanting to make money before they want to start a business.
Some people never come out of that initial mindset which is fine I think.

I know I started off wanting to make money and once I was free and clear I used that time to start a business... then ditched that and got into publishing. You just have to find what works for you and the best way to do that is test out ideas you have, see if you can work with them and if you can keep on going. Once one thing is running smoothly let that keep going and start up a new project/business.

Best advice from art72, in my opinion!

Read through it 3-5 times and start picking something you like. Than stick to it... Do nothing else! It will work... Even if it's hard sometimes :X

My advice is let the numbers dictate what you do for a business and look at supply and demand IE market gaps. Remember business is still business.
