Just joined wanting to get educated in IM

Hi I been in the brick and mortar business world for 40 years. Had a satellite sales and service company, amusement business of mini Golf and bumper boats, dollar store venture and now come full circle to the old family business of a gift shop in a high traffic tourist area.

I think of myself as a fairly good marketing business person, from writing sales ads for the satellite business and have plenty of retail marketing experience from the retail business. I even was involved in the MLM business for a few years and then went into hard times a few years ago and made some mistakes and lost everything.
I have been interested in IM ever since I was involved in the MLM healthcare business and regret I didn't put more time into that business.

So now I'm looking to explore the IM world. I ran across a ad about click bank of selling through affiliates and site promotions I know there has to be money in it, but looking for an education into the entire basics of IM. So I guess my question is what are some of the threads recommended here for a good basic foundation of this world to get started.

I see you already have a large plate before you already. IM takes up a lot of your time and effort. However i suggest you sign up with an IM coach that can give you 1 on 1 coaching. There are several of them like Adam Short, Anik signal, Mark Ling etc. You can check them out.

You should narrow down to what niche you want to be in. What are you interested in or passionate about?

Knowing this can help you focus on what methods and strategies you want to use for IM. Don't fall for anything that promises a "done-for-you" solution or other "get rich quick" type scheme.

It takes persistence and originality to build a quality IM business.

Oh I understand the get rich quick schemes that's exactly what I'm wanting to avoid. Thats why I sought out this sight looking to see what reality and what true expectations of this business is. I don't jump into anything until I have done done tons of research. My business and marketing degree helps, but the school of hard knocks is the one that really prevails here. Looking for some incite and learning the basics is what im looking for. I see what looks to be a ton of good reading here. Was wondering about certain threads that kind of lay down the basics and understanding. Like a 101 of IM.

Actually I have sold and closed down all the businesses but the gift shop now. That's why Im getting involved in IM. The economy has slowed the tourism business industry down the last few years, and looking for something to get involved in.

When I first made the transition from the offline brick and mortar world, to plugging into the interwebs many years ago, the best advice I received was to keep my head burried in the WF here and read as many threads as possible. I recommend you start and end your day in this forum, getting well acquainted with the "search" function. That's what I did back in the day and before I knew it I was making really good money, many different ways. All the best to you as you make your own transition my friend.

You can either hop on the wagon of the quick money schemes or follow the advice of building a long-term, value-providing business. I advise the latter, though people make money on both sides of the fence.

If you are interested in creating a value-providing business around a topic you are passionate about, you need to start out with selecting a niche, which is both profitable and fascinating to you. From there, set up a website and deliver content to the community surrounding that niche and ultimately, monetize the business by providing products, which solve the burning needs of your audience and which you discover through connecting with them.

Welcome to Internet Business. I wish you the absolute best of luck!

Setting up your own sales funnel can be tricky and there's lots of trial and error before it starts to pay off.
I recommend ClickFunnels if you can afford it -- and if you know what to do with it.. Once you start using it, it can pay for itself.

You are an experienced marketer, what you need is a little guideline. There are a lot of threads in WSO where people are providing one on one coaching, grab one and follow, I am sure you will do a revolution in IM.

Well for starters, since you mentioned you are getting familiar with affiliate marketing, and you had experience selling health care items, Health and Beauty Affiliate Programs by MarketHealth.com is a decent paying affiliate network you can join for free.

They offer CPA offers, sub-affiliate tiered commissions, and 50% sales commissions on over 150+ products.

    Also, you can find good products & services that pay great commissions below;

Affiliate Marketing Programs | Rakuten Affiliate Network (LinkShare)

JVZoo.com - Instant Commission Platform for Sellers and Affiliates

ClickBank | A Global Internet Retailer

CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction)

Realise Your Potential With The ClickSure Network | ClickSure

They are all free to join.

Just about ANY product or service that understands the importance of having an online pressence will almost always have an affiliate program, just type the product or service name & add the word; "affiliates" after the product/service name into your browser, and most times you'll find they do offer commissions to freelance publishers (affiliates).

Basically, you have a million products & services available to promote, without the HUGE overhead most brick n' mortar businesses cost. In fact, you can get set up online with a domain, hosting, autoresponder, a nice paid wordpress theme (like OptimizePress or similar), andsome paid advertising on Facebook or Google Adwords for under $1,000.

The hard part is the time & energy in learning the ropes. I too had offline businesses, and internet marketing still blows my mind with all the potential it offers for pennies compared to offline gigs.

    I think starting simple;

Affiliate offers, lead capture (squeeze page), ppc ads, and autoresponder (automated pre-written email follow ups) are probably the most recommended strategies, and free traffic (social media, YouTube, etc...) will take you down the right path to 'see the inner workings' of how it works.

Welcome, and do prepare to ignore a great deal of bogus offerings, and people who think there's a 'magic software' that prints money... as you are obviously a seasoned business person, I think you'll do well here!

    All the Best

    Hi there mate..

I think it sometimes helps to narrow down what you want to do in the IM niche. It's a big place and its easy ot get lost and spend a tons of cash chasing your tail.

If you want an overview and then seek out a coach/mentor to guide you into the finer details of internet marketing, then have a look at this current thread...

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ing-gurus.html

There's some really good suggestions of who to turn to..some specialize, others offer a more general introduction which suits beginners and intermediates..

Regional Warrior--that's a great gesture man. I'm sure Thomco would welocme and appreciate any help that's offers

Welcome to the forum, and good job of taking control of your financial destiny. I would start with the War Room. There is a fee to charge, but once you're in, you're in. And the information there will give you a quantum leap in marketing info. Much better than an educational course in college. Good luck!

    hi
    website first
    * the website is your presentation.
Domain name, graphic, structure of information, details and descriptions of the products, being assisted purchase and customer service always active, they are key
It must be maintained and accessible, if you do not like it when you come to a customer in his pajamas.
If you really want to start a business online you have to think that your site is like your physical store.
    a little advice!!!

Play to your strengths...why not create an information product around a topic you already have experience in? Like an online course about creating a successful brick and mortar business from the ground up? Just a thought...

    Hey Thomaco,

As others have mentioned, IM takes a lot of time, effort, and patience. With your background in offline business, the only thing missing is the IM knowledge side for you to start. So, how about teaming up with someone who can teach you IM in exchange for something you can provide to them such as sales training, ad copywriting, etc.? This way, you can help each other, learn the ropes from someone with experience. Hope I helped in some way :-)

Welcome to the warrior forum. First things first.

Want to make the big money?

    Focus on 2 things:

    1. How to build a list fast and cultivating a relationship with them.

    2. How to drive targeted traffic to your Landing pages to build that list before redirecting them to your offers.

If you learn just this two, you could go out there and pick up good products to promote to your list as an affiliate before thinking of creating your own products.

As you gain more experience, you could package your experience in products and sell them for $7 to $1997 depending on the value of your knowledge/experience.

Don't listen to much noise around here as 95% of folks throwing out 'advice' out here are LESS experience than you - judging from what you said you know about marketing.

    Bless you.

Learning what I just outlined might take a while, but you will get there pretty fast with some dedication and focus.

It took me 3 years of sleepless nights to make it.

You can shorten your learning curve by hiring someone who is where you want to be. In my days, I joined Dan Kennedy's mastermind group.

Also keep in mind that there is a huge world outside of selling IM / Make Money Online products /services.

I've been doing this a long time and I heavily promote CPA offers, with the bulk being PPL (pay per lead) offers, because there is no credit card required. All a users has to do is fill out a form and I will typically make $20-$60. Since no sale is required, conversion rate are typically much higher. I will also promote offers that do require a sale, but I do it on the back-end. Basically I generate leads.

There's a bunch that goes into it, but something to think about. It's worked extremely well for me!!!
