JV Marketing... How realistic is it?

I know many Gurus build huge lists and make a lot of money from it.

But for someone with no momentum I'm wondering if it's really possible (or worthwhile) to focus on joint venture's to grow my business.

I know the big guys won't promote me, but will the smaller guys?

I guess what I'm wondering is it still a valid way for the little guy to generate traffic or is it not worth the effort?

If you have a quality product, getting JV's is not that tough. If you are not well known in your field, giving a high commission (100% on the front end) might grab you few.

The number 1 way to acquire JV's is to do a favor for them... whether is providing them with unique content or a teleseminar.

So I should start building a list with PPC and SEO methods.

Once I have a list I can put together my own products and build up from there?

I'm guessing this is the best way to get moving fast?

The big guys will work with you, but you have to go the extra mile with contacting them. Remember, they're "celebrities" who get hounded by the paparazzi daily. That "paparazzi" is US trying to get them to work with us.

You have to think outside the box on contacting them.

I'm a great example of someone who was brand spankin' new, didn't have a list and yet was about to work with a big-timer for a launch. I was a frequent poster in his forum, having around 600 posts at the time, so he'd seen me around. I PM'd him asking him if he'd like to promote my product that I was launching. He said yes - to send out to his VERY RESPONSIVE list of about 40,000 peeps. It was great. You can read the full story from when I posted it a few years ago on this forum: The Warrior Forum - Success Story: $9,800 in 24 hours

Anyway, most people out there are lazy and don't think about how you'd like to be contacted by marketers if you were contacted by them EVERY...SINGLE...DAY. It's not hard, just be 'nice' - or a better way to think about it: What would you do for a woman you were trying to take out on a date but never gave you the time of day? How would you get her to notice you? It's the same process.

You're going to be hard-pressed to find too many joint venture partners
    when you're just starting out...

This usually comes off as a big surprise to most beginner marketers. They
think that they'll create an awesome product, give good benefits to their
partners, contact a few people, and they'll be on their way to making
thousands of dollars effortlessly while their partners do all the work.

...But that's not how profitable joint ventures are set up. Before you even
think about contacting joint ventures partners, I would suggest that you
first build your list. Mainly, for two reasons:

    1) You won't be completely dependent on JV traffic.

    2) You'll be able to reciprocate with possible partners.

Ever heard of the Latin phrase 'quid pro quo?' Tit for tat, you scratch my
back, I'll scratch yours. That is how joint ventures are set up.

If you start off a relationship by helping your partners FIRST, they'll have
much more of an incentive to help you out. If you have a list and you
can send some type of traffic to their offer - even if it only converts into
a sale or two - you'll find it much easier to convince that person to help
    promote your product.

    All the best,

I think the phrase "join venture" is being skewed just a tad and focusing only on the specific idea of "ad swaps". A join venture is basically a business relationship with someone else right?

You can be at any level and create a deal like this. Especially if your starting out, a JV can be beneficial to you. Don't think just because your new you have nothing to offer.

For example, I'm sure you have some decent writing skills and maybe even the ability to create a decent sales page. Those are skills an experienced internet marketer would be willing to accept in order to strike up a deal. With your abilities and your partners experience you both could create a profitable partnership. In this situation, you would be doing the bulk of the manual work, but the guidance and experience of a more experienced marketer is really worth a lot.

This is probably not what you guys were talking about...

    Thanks,

    George

JV is a good thing to start with...make some friend, have some luck and get a mailing and you have the basic. After this you have to contact the JV´s by yourself and then your business will grow.

Every internet marketer should build a list. There are various methods to do this. I have only one source of building my list really apart from when people buy one of my products. As you build you list, send them valuable information at least once a week if you can. Nuture them and once your list is a reasonable size you can market to them. Just always ensure you treat them right and offer them good quality content.

JV's are all about the relationships. Sure, 100% commissions might attract people you don't know, but you can offer 50% and your friends will still promote you hard. My advice:

    1. Find out who you want to JV with.
    2. Figure out how you can get them to notice you and actually talk to you. One way is to promote them first. If you can sell 10+ copies of their stuff, they'll be much more likely to get back to you because you've proven that you're not a joker like 99% of people who contact us.
    3. Get to know them and help them out.
    4. Ask them to promote your stuff.

This is what I've done with a lot of JV partners and it works SO much better than emailing 1000 people with "Hi, I just saw your site (yoursite.com) and think it's simply wonderful! I am doing a product launch and think you could really benefit... blah blah".

And the best thing about this, all you need to get started is one person. You get to know one person, who vouches for you to another person and you end up setting off this chain reaction.

Focus on the relationships and the JVs will come your way. Think long term, not what you can get next week.
