iWriter banned IP class range!

I had close to $40 on my iWriter account. I don't write articles only request.

I emailed support and they told me that my entire IP range is associated with atleast one spammer, so they banned the IP class range. The last time they did this, I changed my ISP. Yes, you read that right. This is second time this has happened!

I use iWriter to mainly purchase articles, I have a nice list of favorite writers. It's very frustrating to start over again.

Why am I posting this in the main discussion forum? I don't know. Maybe you could suggest a workaround.
I tried using TOR but I can't add money to iWriter wallet via paypal because paypal flags accounts using TOR.

I've never tried VPN or proxy servers to make payments. I don't want either paypal or iWriter to perma-ban me.

tl;dr: I logged in to iWriter using a proxy, my account is in good standing but my IP range is banned. I want to keep using it but how?

Why are you using a proxy?

EDIT: Never mind. To check your account standing.

    Yeah - I don't know.

If they banned your IP - maybe try working out of a local cafe when you need to buy articles.

  • Are you outside of the U.S., Craigcmatthew? A while back, iWriter shut down the whole country of Kenya due to spam complaints, but somehow Brad worked it out so they have access again.

Yeah - that sucks that it happened to you twice, too.

    Use a safe proxy!

But even then - you're right. Not worth the risk to your PayPal account.

I mean, if you can't go anywhere...

If you really needed to - you could ask a friend or family member to remote desktop.

Team Viewer or whatever it's called.

Or use your cell phones data plan to log in?

Maybe get Mobile broadband or wireless Internet on the go.

Thanks. Looks like these are my only options. Mobile internet is feasible. Getting banned like that is such a bummer. I have atleast 4 articles in the pipeline so I need to be able to login and take care of them somehow.

@Bradley - I do happen to be outside of the US (not Kenya). My last ISP was a national provider but it got banned for me anyhow. My current provider is more local, they kind of buy bandwidth and share it among users (probably a few thousand users). I can't imagine anyone among them being such a problematic spammer.

I'm adding a couple of screenshots, they just prove my bad luck with iWriter. Got banned once on October 22nd, 2013. So I switched ISP's, worked fine for a couple of years, then got banned again on 30th Oct, 2015. All this while there are zero intrinsic issues with my account.

It seems like iwriter could come up with a solution for proven, legitimate buyers but you are in India...right? Much of spam and attempted scams I see on this forum originate there and I'm sure the same is true at iwriter.

As if working online isn't hard enough - you have to deal with location issues, too! That's rough.

That is true. India is also known for spammers.

Have you tried getting a host in the U.S. or U.K.? Technically, it could still happen to you, but it would be much less likely if you go with a REPUTABLE host in one of those countries.

By 'reputable' I mean don't go with a cheap company owned by EIG, all sharing the same servers. Full list of their companies here:

I did recieve a PM from Brad Callen, saying he will look into this, so all credit to iWriter support.

@Kay King - Yeah, it sucks being from this part of the world. Sometimes the Government bans legitimate websites and sometimes the legit websites ban you. I agree with India being quite replete with spammers/crooks, I have to deal with that s*** on a daily basis IRL.

I know what you're thinking: " why are you so fatalistic about one website banning you Craig. It's not the end of your IM career ffs! Stop being such an attention seeker. "

Use a VPS. Windows Server 2012 R2 lets you do a remote desktop connection. Essentially, you will be controling another computer in the "cloud", from a pop up window on your desktop.

You can find companies that offer them all over the world, so you'll be able to find one that matches your demographic, and not flag your Paypal account.
