Duplicating for more traffic?

Hey all,

Just a quick question. Let's say you have a website about dog training and you optimize your entire website for that keyword - "dog training", and then after some time you get really well ranked for dog training - but, imagine there is another word instead of "dog training" that means the EXACT same thing, just different words that you didn't optimize for. For example "teach puppies" or something like that - and imagine that if you wanted to, you could actually put in every place you put "dog training" - "teach puppies" instead (sorry for using a not so clear example) - so you could actually have the exact same website just completely optimized for another keyword that has the exact same meaning as the first keyword.

So is it a good idea to buy a new domain and just load up the exact same website and just change the keywords and leave everything the same? Or how would Google look at that? Copied content? I mean, nobody will sue themselves right?

Thanks in advance,
Jack

It's easily possible to do that, there are several ways - but it would be filtered as similar to the other content, so it would be more effective to create new content and get new links to the existing site.

With article and press release marketing you could quickly tap into that traffic and get your new content indexed.

Thanks for the reply Andy. Well, I've been doing a lot of article marketing and I did have good results with it - but you know, when you have a complete website with more than 10 articles on that certain subject - I think it can bring in more traffic in the long run and create a better name for you. And by ranking high for another keyword you could save A LOT of money because then you wouldn't have to pay for adwords and other advertisement - 'cause you can get it for free.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if Google will look at it in a bad way - that the content is the same and only the keywords are different. I mean, if I could get ranked well for keyword #1 then I can get well ranked with the exact same website with keyword #2? What do you think?

      Thank you.
      Jack
