best advice for newbies amd struggling marketers?

Just abit of advice for the newbies and struggling marketers
if you aint getting the results you was hoping for or the "magic" you was promised

then you need to accept that this is your fault, thats right your failures are solely your own doing and only you can rectify these issues

Regardless of what picture you have in mind about internet marketing when you started..the truth is, internet is just medium, its not a scam or this 1 click automated process..its just one of many channels to spread your message to your target market

but its still business...and it needs to be treated like such

Now beside the obvious things like ideal prospect, lead gen and conversions heres a few things to bare in mind that are just important

1. If your tryna do it on the cheap/free working a couple hours a week...then you probably need get some sleep...job centres open early and you'll wanna avoid the queue, cause to succeed you need to be prepared to invest days, weeks even months of time and effort in to making this work and possibly alot of money on your education and finding the strategy that works best

2. if you want your product to be perfect then you need to let that habit go...when you aim for perfection nothing ever happens because something could always be improved, accept that "good enough" is "good enough" and any effort to make it better than good enough will probably go unrecognised anyways

3. Make sure you got bulletproof skin, because this industry is rife with haters and idiots, so expect arrows in your back...dont expect them to throw you any kind of "props" or respect for your efforts speshly when your doing better than them (truss me on this one) if your easily offended then you should probably do something else

4.write your own stuff, if you want get paid properly then you need to get used to writing your own stuff..this is selling, outsourcing this process is a bad move..its like asking another salesman to sell for you...it does work but good writing requires personality and you cant project your personality through someone else, thats a key factor in attracting your prospects anyway- who you are! plus by outsourcing ultimately your business depends on others which i feel is risky business

5. Stop listening to "noise" - people say lots of things ( speshly on WF ) and alot it is just grade A nonsense, just loads of silly cliches like "the moneys in the list" (a half true statement) most of them guys aint making real money anyway, if you want to develop study the marketing concepts and principles and even some of the pros like halbert, carlton, kennedy, schwartz...etc you'll be further along in your development

Theres still alot of other things to consider but this should help you kick on and find some success

hope this helps...peace

Pretty solid advice. I like it. I've gotta ask though, do you have something against periods?

I would definetly say treat it like a business, not a hobby. Make sure you have the right intentions, and not be crooked, and lastly learn from someone who excels in what you want to do, if you do this, it will keep your from jumping to product after product.

There is no magic formula out there. Hard work and buying products from the best marketers such as Brad Callen is the way to go.

Buying products is one thing but actually tweaking them so they work for you is another matter entirely.
    This is the key.

The best 2-second advice i can give is:

    1) Build a list

    2) Do paid advertising

    3) Never quit (although most will)

      And spelling?

I suppose this will get filed under the "haters gonna hate" file?

Never Give up, if you really want to achieve something. You might fail at first point but if you work hard and have a real fire inside then trust me "you can get anything you want".
            Follow Three simple rules..
            1. Learn from Experts (they have experience)
            2. Always play fair everywhere (even on web)
            3. Be a smart worker not hard worker
            Thanks...

Yep, this is especially true in here it seems like these days. There are a certain group of people( some of them are long time members) who just attack and attack for many times no reason at all.

Just negative human beings who wish to spread their negativity to make them feel better about their own miserable lives

Just bypass these people. And many just put them on ignore when they show up around here

The very best advice a newbie can receive is to find something that you're passionate about and sticking with it. This means pursuing every possible avenue to making it succeed. Quick money is definitely NOT in the cards for the average marketer, so stop thinking in that way. Think about what you're passionate about and focus on building your fortune around that niche.....

    Going back to basics...

I think the biggest problem for newbies here is a lack of business knowledge and understanding that nothing happens until something is sold.

Not shoved in front of the marketplace, but sold. There's a big difference.

Add to that a "Let me try to make as much as I can" (a terrible non-specific goal) and belief that somehow the internet lets you skip everything else you have to do to make money 'in the real world', and it's no surprise results are bad.

    Set a specific money target.

Figure out how you are going to make that money target over the time you have to earn it.

Let that tell you what level of traffic you need.

Now you have a real plan. Something you can implement, test and tweak.

The internet is a medium, just like television or direct mail.

One phrase the OP wrote that stood out for me was this:

"Regardless of what picture you have in mind about internet marketing..."

Yes. A picture in your mind about internet marketing. How clear is your picture? I can tell you if your picture isn't very clear, you aren't getting good results.

I don't ever recommend this step, everything you release should be the best version of that thing that your target market have ever seen!

If it isn't then your aims here are simply to squeeze as much money as you can out of an initial launch to cold traffic rather than to actually help your audience and keep them buying from you in the future.

This may not be "perfect" but "good enough" is an awful mindset and not just when it comes to online products.

I'd hazard a guess that you haven't sold a whole lot of products online with this mindset and even if you have, I doubt that those people have continued being your customers for future products.

The sentiments of your post are right, I see what you were trying to do but I don't think anybody should aim for mediocre.

Dan, please let me give you another angle to view this...

Many times, I've put out the best I can, and only found out that things were missing after buyers went through them. Similar in practice to releasing software. You can design and beta test until the cows come home, but there's no way you can foresee what someone unfamiliar with the program will do, nor can you account for every level of skill, native wit, or ability to follow directions.

Sometimes you can aim for "the best version of that thing that your target market have ever seen" and find out that you've missed the target. But you'll never know that until you release the product "into the wild."

Just because someone releases something when it's as good as they can make it, even if that's less than perfect, it does not mean they are simply grubbing for money with no care for the buyers. That one lives in your head, my friend...
