Stick to Google Analytics if you're talking about website traffic.

Clickmagick, Voluumn and CPVLAB for marketing purposes.

    I use StatCounter

Much faster and simpler than GA

For a more practical solution, try StatCounter.

Like GA, it's free but it is in REALTIME.

    If you have website, you
    can use google analytics, it's
    very much better for tracking
    visitors all informations.

    Otherwise you can use
    pretty link wordpress plugins
    for tracking visitors.

Also you can use clickmeter for tracking

    Thanks

I have used a variety of tracking methods over the years for various levels of accuracy...Google Analytics, Click Magick (Pricey), and bitly.

I have really not needed to stray from these 3 over the years as they've served my purposes nicely. Highly recommend these!

I like Statcounter as well. Like previously mentioned, it's simple, there's no delay, and I like that it shows the IP addresses of visitors.

Not knowing what you specifically want to track, I would also suggest Analytics. The learning curve can be a little though and to get comfortable with everything that's going on in there.

If it's too complicated then by all means go with StatCounter, as mentioned above.

    Cheers

If you're just tracking visitors go for Analytics, but if you're doing CPA and such you may want tracking software such as Voluum, which is my personal favorite.

Alright, so everyone says use Google Analytics, which yes, is the best free system you can use.

BUT, what I do, is with my WordPress sites, I install a plugin called Visitors Traffic Real Time Statistics. It's free, and decently well designed.

This way when I'm on my dashboard of my website, I can quickly click on that plugin from my menu to get an idea of how things are going.

For major inquires or more correct statistics, however, I always go to my Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools accounts.

    Hope this helps!

It depends on what you want the information for?

There are many ways to see the information you want.

cPanel has things like awstats which will tell you basic information. GA will of course give you some expanded insights and takes a little time to learn (but just search in Google and YouTube for a heap of information).

Jetpack for Wordpress has some information you can use and then there are plugins like WassUp as well.. Here is a screen grab of this plugin I use on some client web site.

It gives us good snapshot data, but you can drill down to more in-depth analysis. You can also see things at the click of a mouse such as Top Query, Top Referrer, Top Request, Top Article and the like.

    It is also free: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wassup

    Hope that helps?

Google Analytics - It is no very user friendly at all and it is going to take you some time to get used to it and figure out how to really work the program. However once you get the hang of creating goals etc its the best damn tracking service out there and paints a clear picture about what is going on in your site. Plus I really love the live stats. I would recommend not wasting your time on anything else. Take those hours and put it into learning Google Analytics

I'm actually working on a custom tracking solution coded in c++

Basically all tracking solutions are inadequate to a certain extent. GA is perfectly fine for organic traffic, but there's no solution for paid traffic that doesn't either have a massive flaw or completely suck.

If I'm buying traffic on volume I want realtime visualization, not a BS report. Honestly this is a major issue preventing me from buying high volume media.
