Running an IM business from a phone.

So I picked up a Note 5 today and am planning on running my entire business from a phone. I'm not sure how this is going to go, anybody have any incite here? I will still always have a laptop handy and I'm pretty sure I can use my home PC from the phone, but I haven't looked into it yet. (Like through VNC, or something, if anybody has a suggestion, I would love any info.)

Also: Always read contracts, today I asked a guy at Sprint how much it would cost to tether my laptop through the phone (with an insane amount of data), he said it's unlimited, 70$ a month. This didn't seem right, so I walked out, I went to a different store and they basically told me that if I needed that much data I would have to do it a different way because it would cost too much. Out of curiosity I asked what the bill would be, they let me know it would be $7570 for the month. Contracts, read them.

I wouldn't write that off so quickly.

I had a broadband card with sprint for almost 8 years, and was grandfathered in at $60 for unlimited usage. They may have a special or something going on.

I only dropped it as my data usage has declined greatly with so much free wifi available. I opted to go for a prepaid Karma which is a pay as you go and everything rolls over - and will work with the phone or the laptop.

I get wifi everywhere, and when I don't I can pull out the Karma. Bought 20 gigs and started using it in August. Still have:
    Available data
    17.79GB

"May I have ten thousand marbles, please?"

The current sprint plan is 70$ unlimited usage for the phone but only 3gb of tethered data per month. (If you need to download something big you can just download it to the phone first...) Which honestly is enough, but the overage is outrageous. Thanks for letting me know about that device, I'm in areas with no free wifi pretty often.

Don't know if it's available everywhere, but Boost Mobile (Sprint) just came out with a MiFi wireless (mobile router) with 15GB's for $55 per month.

I had Verizon's MiFi 4G, and it kicked arse... But, dropped Verizon... Got tired of having $400 month bills from them!

It should be, it just uses the wireless phone networks.

I walked out of Verizon today, I know the service quality is probably a little better in my area but I don't like their BS plans and I never have either. Seriously 100$ a month for 18gb of data plus the phone? I think the guy said $155 a month, I told him I was going to go get lunch and then I would be back. Also why do they need to check my credit? Why can't I just buy the phone upfront... I never went back obviously.

Edit: This got derailed a bit, there any apps people recommend or couldn't live with out? PDF creators, email apps, some basic image editing app, text editors, code pads, and what not. Also my phone is not activated yet, I switched from a "dumb phone" and apparently it takes a day so I can't use the phone at the moment.

In my opinion, a tablet + keyboard (specifically the surface), or even an inexpensive Chromebook + WiFi would do better just because it's far harder to type, create documents, etc from a mobile device, even from a large one. That said, if you do use a phone, I don't think you need huge amounts of data. Get on WiFi whenever possible, and if you're not downloading/watching videos on your phone, you don't use tons of data.
