Screening Potential Affiliates

Hey everybody,

I did some searching on this but there wasn't any complete answers.

I added my first products to JVZoo a few days ago and immediately got requests from potential affiliates. Thankfully I watched their video on manually approving affiliates. Within a few hours I had a request from someone from within the US, sent an email asking who they'd be marketing to, where they would be marketing, etc. That was almost a week ago and no response. Interesting because he had 250+ sales shown.

This morning I had another come from a guy in Indonesia and he actually wrote a message:
"Dear Sir Allow me to be your affiliation n I'll review n promote your product in www.INSERTNAME.com So far,My website has been selling 50 products in this very short time. Thank you for your attention, I'm really looking forward for the response First Last Name"

I get it that English may not be his first language. His website is an affiliate site for a bunch of different product reviews and he even had a section on his site for JVZoo products. Maybe I'm overthinking this but I prefer to be vigilant in protecting my business from potential fraud/scams.

What are some tips or methods you guys use for screening out legit affiliates?

Yes, you are overthinking it...a little. What you have to keep in mind is that these affiliates sign up to promote a lot of different products, and guys like the 250+ affiliate don't normally have to deal with the sellers contacting him for more information - so now the chance that he will promote your product is probably zero, because he is looking at you as a nuisance.

The ones you need to worry about are those that have under 10 sales, or 0 sales. You'll always take a little risk approving sellers for Instant payment, but many affiliates that have 100+ sales won't bother promoting for you if you set them to Delayed payments.

But here is something else...no matter how many sales a lot of them have, most of them will end up making you no money anyhow, and some who sign up won't promote your product regardless. Very few affiliates will actually make you money on JVZoo, and unless you are doing a product launch and have an outstanding product (plus some connections), you won't get the heavy hitters promoting for you.

Well from my experience this kind of affiliates won't bring any sales plus it's risky. So most likely I would Not approve this affiliate. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info. I wanted to play it safe especially since JVZoo advises it.

What about doing a delayed payment?
