Agreed. There's plenty of solid advice on this forum still IMO.

I'm temped to quit every day now. There is no more value here. Just unmoderated idiots going unchecked and asking the same stupid question every day

Can't we just make up our own minds then?

One small thing I would like to add if any of you are thinking about using YouTube to get people to view your website/affiliate link.

Never use an affiliate link in your videos. You never know if and when the product you are promoting will ever die and go away.

That's why you need to create your own domain name and add it there. That way, you can add any affiliate program to your site if the original product you are associated with shuts down.

Sites tend to go down hill over years. For example:

FIVERR use to have great gigs. Sadly, most stuff now costs more than $5 and is crap.

UDEMY use to have excellent courses. Well, they now have a lot of spam. Also, a lot of courses are expensive - $299 to listen to an instructor with an accent so thick I can barely understand a word he is saying. Please add some verbal tics and an annoying voice.

I should agree that there are tons of dublicate posts etc., this is why I use search... however, the overall W resources is a real treasure.

Sure there have been lots of changes on this forum over the years. We have to adapt and learn to filter the good from the bad.

When people realise that 80% of the advice on here is unfounded and they realise they have wasted months worth of time following it, they often leave.

I left myself a couple years ago, though now that I am much more experienced and wiser, I returned to help those who are still confused.

Two main reasons to stick around:

1. To find posts like the OP linked, which are packed with value
2. To provide posts like the OP linked, which help the newcomers and increase the credibility of our industry.

Yeah, there are some damn good threads here. Including the one you mentioned.

Unfortunately, the good ones are overwritten daily by tons of garbage threads ever since Alan sold the forum, and moderation went to shit!

Moderation has become almost non-existent, and the tone of the forum has become a free-for- all, where 5 people ask the same questions everyday. It's total BS!

There was a reason this forum remained the #1 marketing forum for over a decade... and it had everything to do with quality control & nuking useless threads.

Almost anyone who has been here prior to Alan's decision to sell the forum knows; it's not nearly what it used to be!

Eventhough, there are still a few golden nuggets that appear occassionally, they need moderators to start removing the trash... or this place will continue to lose the seasoned contributors that helped people like me go from 'computer illiterate' to having some solid knowledge of IM.

If freelancer continues to allow the trash, spam, and continuation of the main forum being a springboard for blind ambition, I for one will not swim in a pool with so many turds floating in it!

Lastly, I too have asked some stupid questions over the years. So, I'm not bashing those who ask in need... It's those who abuse the privilege of the forum, and show no gratitude for the knowledge that 'IS' available here on WF.

Going through the forums is like sieving for gold in a river. Most of the time you get dirt and rocks but occasionally, you find a true chunk of gold like this one.

Some people look for only better place. Some others would like to stay for whatever may happen. I prefer to stay, because I know this is the best place for me. If this place was a girl, I would marry her despite she's going to be old anyway, because she really changes my life to be better everyday.

Thanks for letting me know you appreciate my post. I didn't expect such great feedback. I literally just felt like writing a post about what worked for me, and I knew if I could help at least one person with the post that would be cool.

I will continue to bring actionable and detailed posts to the community, especially knowing that it is highly appreciated when I do so.
