XsitePro - Hosting - Publishing??

Newbie question:

One of the stupidest questions ever - but - I can not seem to publish my website using XSP2.

The FTP test connection works perfectly - but when I test load the page in my browser I get

"The requested URL /home/username was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Now thats with my Home Directory as /home/username

If I leave that blank I get

"Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www[dot]maindomain[dot]com Port 80"

I think I just overthought it too much and confused myself. . .

My FTP dir: /public_html/maindomain

This is my first domain for this hosting service - So I'm lost

I had a similar problem (I'm a newbie too) I rang the host company and they guy there sorted it out for me. My problem was how it had uploaded and which section it had been placed in. Hope that helps

It is awesome - Rocks my socks - It's just the Hosting that is getting me confused atm.

Plus - I can't call the US from Australia without it costing about a trillion so I might email them.

    Thanks

This may or may not fix it...

Go to the Publishing Details page.

Under FTP Server Details set the following parameters:

      FTP Server: ftp.yourdomain.com
      FTP Directory: public_html

Let me know how this works.

Use Skype - two cents a minutes - or an international phone card which is a similar price.

Thanks Netpiddler - I set these to the following - but still no luck.

It doesn't really make sense. I had FTP Server set to my 'nameservers' from the hosting company. tested it - works sucessfully. Then I changed it to ftp.mydomain.com and still the same. Works successful on the test - but won't load the page.

The your domain I changed to my domain, which I thought obvious - but I'll just check - Where you wrote ftp - should I be changing that to something else?

    Cheers

Yes you should have changed ftp.mydomain.com to your own domain.

I am surprised this didn't fix the problem. Its not a big problem, its just a matter of getting the upload directory right.

      Lets check one more thing...

      From the Publishing Details page:

At the top left under Web Server Details,

      Domain Name: www.mydomain.com
      Home Directory: leave blank

If that doesn't work you can pm me your ftp info including user/pass and I will have a look for you.

      Good luck!

No I did change it to my domain - I was referring to ftp = ? I just assumed it was ftp though and that worked.

It all works now - and I have no idea what I changed - I did everything right the first time
Domain Name, Home Dir, FTP server and Dir, So I dunno.

But I contacted support and they informed me that it was fine - then I checked back and it was up??

Oh well - I think maybe they changed something technical support wise that may have not been set.

Thanks for all the help though.

    Cheers
