how to start a forum? any help?

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a way to start a forum on BBpress.

I wanted to fill it with scheduled quality content, on discussions that took place in my lectures, so that others can find it useful and be able to search for it.

Can anyone help in getting this? or tell me what I would need to do for doing something like this?

I saw CMS commander does auto-posts - but they have a bug in their system so the software currently doesn't work for doing this.

Would be grateful if you could point me to the right direction - not sure if this was the correct section to post this but fingers crossed.

Do you have a regular website already in place?

Have you considered using freeforums dot net at all? I have afeling it may be an even better fit for the type of functionality you are looking for..

If you have a Wordpress blog there is a plugin for BB which I do recommend if you have common questions in the niche you are blogging about. Its a great way to keep quality information and people coming back to your blog.

You want to build a forum where you post scheduled content and people can discuss it?

Wouldn't a blog with comments enabled be perfect for this?

Another good option is to create a Facebook Group, they are quickly becoming the new version of micro-forums

Go to "Websitetoolbox" (dot com). It will give you everything you need and want for starting and running your own forum.

You seem to be focused on content.

While I don't disagree that you should start with a decent base of 'pillar' content, TRAFFIC is what will MAKE or BREAK your forum.

There's one simple trick you can use that can VACUUM traffic off blogs.

You'll need Vbulletin with an SEO focus though.

At first I recommend you to start with minimum forum sections. And then increase number of them as soon as you go.

Don’t fill your forum with advertising and avoid ads that pop-up (if possible).

Choosing a good web hosting and a good CMS like Xenforo, vBulletin, IPB or PHPBB (free forum cms) to start your own forum.

I would suggest you learn from these successful forums

Building a forum is easy but a successful forum is not easy task, you need to spend time on developing and promoting it, even you need money for advertising on social networks and high quality sites.

I wanted to have my own forum I could not because its really requiring more works to develop a forum.

    Hope that helps!
