Are you a professional journalist? You write very well.

As soon as I see a comment like that on my blogs, alarm bells go off. I just don't trust flattery. And, just as I suspected, the exact same praise, word for word, appears on a hundred other blogs.

I suppose you can no follow their links, especially if that IP address has not made any other worthwhile comments.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

98% of the time I see comments like that, it's spam where they throw their link in with what "copy & paste" they have to say and/or in the name field it's "How To Make Money With Google" or whatever.

I use Akismet for spam and it works like a charm.

I have one blog where I allow comments just to see what people write. It's how I keep my finger on the pulse of the commenting community!

I always enjoy the ones that say they don't agree with everything I said, but I made a good point, especially when such a comment appears on a post that was just a photo or a joke or something else that you really wouldn't agree or disagree with.

Sometimes, spammers just make it too easy for me to identify them.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

And, just as I was about to put on my "big-time-writer" hat, you come along and dash my hopes into the ground.

So, I guess I'm not that special after all?

    Nutz!

Sigh, look what I'm missing after I locked down the blog comments section! Comment management seems like too big of a hassle for very little return. If someone really wants to contact me, there's a contact address somewhere that opens up into my circular file.

I sometimes get human-seeming comments like that as well. However, if you check the links, you'll find that in almost 100% of the cases, every comment that does not directly relate to or refer to something you wrote in that particular article is actually a spam comment.

Humans almost always refer to specific content. Bots make general statements (sometimes even eloquently).
