Hello People
Can you list ma some major players in the internet marketing business that are making themselves millions online? And that have made good learning programs for beginners, intermediate?
Thank you in advance.

I am just looking for a good mentor to follow, as I have learned - the best way to succeed - it to emulate someone successful already

I know only of Anik Singal, Rich Jerk, Eben Pagan, Tellman Knudson. Can you please comment on these, and add some more?

I don't know about most of those guys but I would add Sean Donahoe.

    I would subtract rich jerk.

Edit: oh I didn't realize who Eben Pagan was, I will vouch him.

I don't know man, there's just something about the way that guys does pretty much everything that's unprofessional. I get that's the "angle" but I wasn't sold on the books with the pictures of the Lamborghini's back in the early 2000's either.

If you're getting into the business because you want to be rich, then maybe he will help get you motivated. But look, there's no real secret to this. You have to find a way to accumulate business assets and develop a system to utilize them. Then repeat. As long as you are retaining your assets or are multiplying them, you're growing and you can grow to whatever level you can handle or desire. There's guys who did this with pretty much every form of internet marketing there is. Ads, social, SEO, Email, products, whatever. That's the "magic formula."

Also I can't stand guru's or coaches who do mental mastery coaching like John Chow. Look I get it, getting your mindset and getting motivated are 99% of the problem. I'm beyond that, what's the game plan here? You make 40k a month blogging I get it, how do I reproduce that... Answer: you don't.

Regardless of the myriad of opinions regarding each of them, I have learned mountains of knowledge over the years from Pat Flynn, Internet Business Mastery, John Lee Dumas, Matthew Woodward, Neil Patel, Noah Kagen, Tim Ferriss and Gary Vaynerchuck.

Google any of those names and they will appear.

I think a more important question is why have you failed the last few years? What has gone wrong? What have you seriously put effort into and given it a long enough chance that didn't work? What about any courses you have bought? Did they not work or did you not follow them?

From your post history, you have been here quite a while, appear to have tried various things over the years, but for some reason things haven't worked out for some reason yet.

Asking for a mentor is a common theme but it fails for most people because they don't follow the mentor the same way they didn't follow the other stuff they know to do. I'm not saying this is the case in your situation, but it is in most other cases.

    Mark

A lot of filler is what you will find. "Gurus" for lack of a better term, love to talk about themselves.

    It's painfully simple, really.

You have something to sell. (Product)

You let interested people know. (Advertising)

You analyze your results and tweak for best performance. (Testing)

Develop your own methods so some day people will be adding your name to these lists.

    These are gurus I follow

Frank Kern, even on his free videos he gives a ton of value.

John Chow, he gives some golden nuggets on his youtube channel.

Alex Becker, if you are the type of guy who never takes action on anything, he gives the answers no one would like to hear but you know he is right.

MJ DeMarco, this guy will convince you to start a fastlane business(the best type of business). This guy were the one who totally changed my mindset about business and everything in general.

Gary Vaynerchuk, probably the most sucessful of all these guys. He talks alot about social media and he got some good motivation videos too.

It seems to me that Eben Pagan is one of the greats you can learn from. There are plenty of videos by him (and his mentor Wyatt Woodsmall) you can find on YouTube.

I don't want to mention too many internet marketers as you will get information overload. However, I would suggest reading The Entrepreneur's Guide To Getting Your S*** Together by John Carlton (a copywriter), which is about $9 on Amazon.

Also check out Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz (which I believe is free online due to it being so old). The only problem is some of the material in that book is so old it doesn't really apply to today, however there are some great nuggets and foundational information on copywriting.

A more useful list would be those "gurus" who are basically con artists selling garbage to newbies but forum rules prohibit such a list being posted here. I can say this much: one or more of the names that would be on such a list are mentioned in this thread.Caveat emptor.

You don't need a "guru". Most of what you need to know is available for free right here in this forum.

I think the problem with many of those mentioned are their general inaccessibility. If you are not yet making money online, I think you would be doing yourself a favor to hook up with a six figure marketer.

Success is achieved in steps. If you want to use mentorship, then you will find that someone in the trenches knows how to survive and thrive there. Someone sitting in the penthouse... maybe not so much.

For example... I think Russel Brunson is genuinely a good guy and a smart marketer. But he has had a level of success that is so high for so long, that if you listen closely you will soon understand that he is now wanting to do business with marketers of a certain level.

So his training caters to that. For example he speaks of solo ads that are $5000 for one blast. In the example I am thinking of... they lost $3500 on that blast. But they learned something from it and went on to have other successful solo ad blast with that site.

But do you have $5000 to play with. If you lost $3500 would the information you learned be valuable to you? Or would it simply break the bank?

Often the superstars are not the best suited to teach a beginner or intermediate level marketer what the best course of action is to succeed.

By finding someone who is above you in success, but is still doing the same daily task that you will need to do to succeed, is the person who is more likely to be the one that is more affordable, more accessible, and more able to understand your situation and how to succeed from where you are.

    Good luck to you.

As you can tell there are a TONNE of suggestions here! My suggestion wouldn't be who to listen too cos theres already alot of suggestinos here.

    What i'd suggest is this:

Figure out what you want to learn in the next few months. What you really want to perfect. eg. Email marketing

Then do your home work on email marketing. Find who are the top 5-10 & research them AS WELL.

You'll likely find 1-2 or 3 that resonate with YOU. Follow them & take away all the things you like from what they do & add your personality to it.

      Excellent advice Sam.

My experience with experts is this . . .

Most often they are an expert in one thing, one method, one topic that they know well . . . but they are not an expert in many other things.

So whatever specific thing you want to learn . . . find the expert and learn it . . . but don't assume that because he/she was great in one area - that they will also be expert in something else.

My favorite definition of an expert: an ordinary fellow a safe distance from home!

Thanks very much for this interesting post. I have some exploring to do over the holidays.

I came across this article the other day that might be of of interest in this thread: 50 Online Marketing Influencers to Watch in 2016.

While it goes slightly off-topic, some of the people mentioned in the article are listed here.

Others included, like Mari Smith, certainly should be listed here. I'd also like to include Jeff Bullas and Kim Garst whom I am following on Twitter.

I would add Anik Singal and recommend his books The Circle Of Profits and The Email Lifeline.

I know a few "gurus" in the adult niche that will wipe the floor with most general online marketing gurus.. The big money as we all know is in adult and you will not find these gurus on here or on some blogs or sites, the are quietly making fortunes every month from media buys and tube sites...

There's quite a few that I personally 'follow' (sounds a bit like stalking!) but one who really sticks in my mind is John Thornhill.

One example is the videos that he bangs out for his training!

Short and to the point, do that and move onto the next when you're ready...

There's a lot of things (especially in IM) where they need to be broken up into small chunks, you've got to try and cater for everyone, John does that.

Others, I'll have to check my emails! the list might be a bit too long?

      Cheers
      Jon
