Hello People
Can you list ma some major players in the internet marketing business that are making themselves millions online? And that have made good learning programs for beginners, intermediate?
Thank you in advance.

I am just looking for a good mentor to follow, as I have learned - the best way to succeed - it to emulate someone successful already

I know only of Anik Singal, Rich Jerk, Eben Pagan, Tellman Knudson. Can you please comment on these, and add some more?

I don't know about most of those guys but I would add Sean Donahoe.

    I would subtract rich jerk.

Edit: oh I didn't realize who Eben Pagan was, I will vouch him.

I don't know man, there's just something about the way that guys does pretty much everything that's unprofessional. I get that's the "angle" but I wasn't sold on the books with the pictures of the Lamborghini's back in the early 2000's either.

If you're getting into the business because you want to be rich, then maybe he will help get you motivated. But look, there's no real secret to this. You have to find a way to accumulate business assets and develop a system to utilize them. Then repeat. As long as you are retaining your assets or are multiplying them, you're growing and you can grow to whatever level you can handle or desire. There's guys who did this with pretty much every form of internet marketing there is. Ads, social, SEO, Email, products, whatever. That's the "magic formula."

Also I can't stand guru's or coaches who do mental mastery coaching like John Chow. Look I get it, getting your mindset and getting motivated are 99% of the problem. I'm beyond that, what's the game plan here? You make 40k a month blogging I get it, how do I reproduce that... Answer: you don't.

  • Regardless of the myriad of opinions regarding each of them, I have learned mountains of knowledge over the years from Pat Flynn, Internet Business Mastery, John Lee Dumas, Matthew Woodward, Neil Patel, Noah Kagen, Tim Ferriss and Gary Vaynerchuck.

Google any of those names and they will appear.
  • Seth Godin is the man

    Seriously.

Lots of other 'names' just recycle Seth's concepts.
  • I would stay away from RJ.

If you like to do solo ads business, I think Igor Kheifets is the guy.
  • I hope u re not the style of jumping from 1 to more shiny products .
Just do it, test it again n again on a daily basis n you'll see results..
except if you're buying a very cool technical stuff, the techniques, I think that's still ok.
  • I think a more important question is why have you failed the last few years? What has gone wrong? What have you seriously put effort into and given it a long enough chance that didn't work? What about any courses you have bought? Did they not work or did you not follow them?

From your post history, you have been here quite a while, appear to have tried various things over the years, but for some reason things haven't worked out for some reason yet.

Asking for a mentor is a common theme but it fails for most people because they don't follow the mentor the same way they didn't follow the other stuff they know to do. I'm not saying this is the case in your situation, but it is in most other cases.

  • Shaquir Hussein seems to be killing it at the moment.
Ive seen a few of his offers lately they look great.
They are all from what Ive seen high ticket offers.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • A lot of filler is what you will find. "Gurus" for lack of a better term, love to talk about themselves.

    It's painfully simple, really.

You have something to sell. (Product)

You let interested people know. (Advertising)

You analyze your results and tweak for best performance. (Testing)

Develop your own methods so some day people will be adding your name to these lists.

    • Best post in this thread
  • Seth Godin, Neil Patel and Gary Vaynerchuk. Top 3 IMHO
  • Look up 2 guys named "Yanik Silver" and "Ken McCarthy". That's all you need.
  • It depends. There are many aspects of Internet Marketing.

When I want info on being an amazon affiliate I look to Erica Stone

If I want web Traffic I look to Kim Roach

For Affiliate Marketing I look to Mark Ling of Affilorama

Email Marketing I seek out Paul Nicholls

So, there are many it just depends on the info you are looking for

  • gotta say FRANK KERN by a mile.

His FREE stuff, is about 10000000 times better than the paid products out there.

Plus a few guys in the paid traffic niche, but frank covers this too, in his free stuff.

  • I would like to add Jamie Lewis to the list.

He doesn't just make money teaching Internet Marketing.

    He actually does it.

In several niches, not just internet marketing.

  • I learned so much from Liz Tomey. From blogging, creating sales funnels, resale rights also product reviews. Her lessons so simple to understand for me.

    • I have worked with a number of internet marketers over the past 9 years. I highly recommend (in no particular order) Michael Cheney, Alex Jeffreys, Rich Schefren, Russell Brunson and Dean Holland.

All have their own style, skills and specialties and are worth looking up.

      Good luck !!
  • These are gurus I follow

Frank Kern, even on his free videos he gives a ton of value.

John Chow, he gives some golden nuggets on his youtube channel.

Alex Becker, if you are the type of guy who never takes action on anything, he gives the answers no one would like to hear but you know he is right.

MJ DeMarco, this guy will convince you to start a fastlane business(the best type of business). This guy were the one who totally changed my mindset about business and everything in general.

Gary Vaynerchuk, probably the most sucessful of all these guys. He talks alot about social media and he got some good motivation videos too.
  • Hi
Neil Patel... I like his history
    MJ DeMarco "The Millionaire Fastlane"
Mark Hoverson He is a master of direct response marketing.
He founded many business movements, such as the Lifestyle Design Network .
  • +1 to Eric Louviere.

I also recommend Jeff Walker. His new book, Launch, is a solid read and good place to start.
  • There is an awesome guy that is doing Internet Marketing the right way.

He is New, Humble and seems to be straight.

His name is Pat Flynn - his blog is the Smart Passive Income and has an awesome Podcast that I would strongly recommend (for any Internet Marketer).

The Smart Passive Income Blog — Smart Ways to Live a Passive Income Lifestyle On the Internet with SmartPassiveIncome.com

If you get in touch - tell him that I sent you
  • Armand Morin?

  • I like Frank Kern and Ryan Diess and there is a young kid that I'm on his list that I like watching by the name of Mike Buontempo. Which a lot of what he does is based off of Ryan Diess. I also like watching Vick Strizheus (high traffic academy) which a lot of what he does is based off of Frank Kern strategies.
  • My favorites are Terry Dean,Russell Brunson,Ryan Deiss,Frank Kern and Matthew Woodward...

Thanks for calling me out, I feel honored :-)

  • I would put Frank Kern on the top of my list.
  • Brian Dean, Jack Duncan, Alice Seba, Lynn Terry

There are probably a load of others, but these guys don't ram "push button" riches down your throat.
  • Sean Mize anyone. Like Frank Kern he gives away more free content then he sells
  • It seems to me that Eben Pagan is one of the greats you can learn from. There are plenty of videos by him (and his mentor Wyatt Woodsmall) you can find on YouTube.

I don't want to mention too many internet marketers as you will get information overload. However, I would suggest reading The Entrepreneur's Guide To Getting Your S*** Together by John Carlton (a copywriter), which is about $9 on Amazon.

Also check out Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz (which I believe is free online due to it being so old). The only problem is some of the material in that book is so old it doesn't really apply to today, however there are some great nuggets and foundational information on copywriting.
  • A more useful list would be those "gurus" who are basically con artists selling garbage to newbies but forum rules prohibit such a list being posted here. I can say this much: one or more of the names that would be on such a list are mentioned in this thread.Caveat emptor.

You don't need a "guru". Most of what you need to know is available for free right here in this forum.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Seth Godin, Paul Nicholls, Ken McCarthy, Ray Edwards, Mike DeVincent, Sean Mize, David Vu are some of my favorites. There are many others but those are the first names which came to my mind.
  • I've been on Frank Kern's list for ages. Quality guy!

Frank Bauer is pretty active and has a nice selection of helpful ad sites, so he is definitely worth mentioning.
  • I'm reading Russ Brunson's book now. Should be required reading for anyone in IM. I would definitely add James Jones and E Brian Rose to any list.
  • I would say:
Dank Kennedy, Eben Pagan, Frank Kern, Rayan Deiss, and Russel Brunson. Just to name a few. Im sure there are plenty more.
  • I think the problem with many of those mentioned are their general inaccessibility. If you are not yet making money online, I think you would be doing yourself a favor to hook up with a six figure marketer.

Success is achieved in steps. If you want to use mentorship, then you will find that someone in the trenches knows how to survive and thrive there. Someone sitting in the penthouse... maybe not so much.

For example... I think Russel Brunson is genuinely a good guy and a smart marketer. But he has had a level of success that is so high for so long, that if you listen closely you will soon understand that he is now wanting to do business with marketers of a certain level.

So his training caters to that. For example he speaks of solo ads that are $5000 for one blast. In the example I am thinking of... they lost $3500 on that blast. But they learned something from it and went on to have other successful solo ad blast with that site.

But do you have $5000 to play with. If you lost $3500 would the information you learned be valuable to you? Or would it simply break the bank?

Often the superstars are not the best suited to teach a beginner or intermediate level marketer what the best course of action is to succeed.

By finding someone who is above you in success, but is still doing the same daily task that you will need to do to succeed, is the person who is more likely to be the one that is more affordable, more accessible, and more able to understand your situation and how to succeed from where you are.

    Good luck to you.
  • I have to agree with others, Frank Kern puts out some solid stuff. He has a good video you can download free if you want.
  • Frank Kern. His Legacy project is on offer at the moment I believe.
  • Seth Godin, Eben Pagan, Neil Patel, Gael Breton are what I subscribe to.

I find when I follow too many "gurus" at once, I get caught up in reading when I should be working. So don't get too caught up in reading material.

    • I respect Seth Godin ,and I could only dream of the success he has had.. But his newsletter was something I never really got into. Very general ,philosophical stuff. I'm sure others get a lot out of it. But not me.

  • Some of the major players I follow are:

    > Neil Patel
    > Luke Peerfly
    > Yaro Starak
    > Pat Flynn

Great guys and I'm sure you'll learn a lot from them.
  • As you can tell there are a TONNE of suggestions here! My suggestion wouldn't be who to listen too cos theres already alot of suggestinos here.

    What i'd suggest is this:

Figure out what you want to learn in the next few months. What you really want to perfect. eg. Email marketing

Then do your home work on email marketing. Find who are the top 5-10 & research them AS WELL.

You'll likely find 1-2 or 3 that resonate with YOU. Follow them & take away all the things you like from what they do & add your personality to it.

    • Excellent advice Sam.

My experience with experts is this . . .

Most often they are an expert in one thing, one method, one topic that they know well . . . but they are not an expert in many other things.

So whatever specific thing you want to learn . . . find the expert and learn it . . . but don't assume that because he/she was great in one area - that they will also be expert in something else.

My favorite definition of an expert: an ordinary fellow a safe distance from home!

  • I somehow do not believe in that word guru... it seems suspicious to me. I am trying to get inspired by others to take action and then I need to discover my own uniqe way not to be copycat
  • I know a few "gurus" in the adult niche that will wipe the floor with most general online marketing gurus.. The big money as we all know is in adult and you will not find these gurus on here or on some blogs or sites, the are quietly making fortunes every month from media buys and tube sites...

    • There's quite a few that I personally 'follow' (sounds a bit like stalking!) but one who really sticks in my mind is John Thornhill.

One example is the videos that he bangs out for his training!

Short and to the point, do that and move onto the next when you're ready...

There's a lot of things (especially in IM) where they need to be broken up into small chunks, you've got to try and cater for everyone, John does that.

Others, I'll have to check my emails! the list might be a bit too long?

      Cheers
      Jon
