If your looking for free... Apathula "I believe that's it." Is killer seo optimized. Also, may look at the lightword theme, although a lot of people are using the heck out of it. But, still quite a nice clean theme.

IMHO, take a look at the following 2 - which I used before switching over to the Thesis Theme (Which is so cool as to nearly defy description):

Magazine Style Theme = Free "WP Premium" Theme is here
Three Column Theme = WordPress Theme Designer Maggo Mag Theme

Just my opinion, but those 2 were slick looking right out of the box.

      Andy,
thanks for the input, am trying to compile a list of top 3, then go like
hell from there. I have had issues with magazine style themes indexing
      in a timely manner.
      Thanks again

ThemeHybrid.com is another one you might check out. It's a pretty flexible, SEO optimized WP theme.

It's a step down from the Thesis theme, but it is free!

**Sorry, I can't post a link until I have 15 posts so you'll have to copy and paste the URL!

Atahualpa and Flexibility are the 2 themes that I would recommend. I've had good luck with both of them. Atahualpa has a ton of customizations available.

I just started setting up WP sites again after about 2 years of not doing much of anything (old sites were setup using 1.5.2 - if that's any indication).

I was pleasantly surprised at how much customization the Atahualpa developers made available. I'm using it as the base theme for all of my WP sites.

I've played around with a number of different themes: Arthemia (used in my skimpy A-ZGold.com), Revolution, ThemeHybrid, Thesis. IMHO, they're all good in different ways, though I certainly haven't taken them to the limit of their potential (so won't pose as an expert on it). I suspect that ThemeHybrid may have the most explosive potential of the themes that I've seen. I usually adjust themes to make them more user-friendly (eg InsatiableGardener.com was adjusted to have automatically generated thumbnails in three different sizes without having to use custom fields in every post). Sometimes themes have features that I don't have much use for (eg Revolution admin panel ad boxes since I prefer wpads). I really like wp-seothemes.com which I've used in my current WSO, though I've radically customized that as well to make it even more user-friendly than it is.

Atahualpa for me, every time. It gets better and better and you can do so much with it with a bit of practice.

They have an excellent support forum too.
