8-step action plan for newbies

For all the newbies who need an action plan and don't receive much help, here you go.

Ok. Here we go.

1. Get an affiliate account.
I recommend going with Clickbank for newer marketers because of the instant approvals for all products. This will speed up the process if you just want to test the waters and see if you can sell an affiliate product. Once you have your CB account setup, you need to go to the "Marketplace" and pick a niche from the numerous ones available. Try to not pick a niche which is oversatured like "Weight loss". Try to pick something with less competition. You also want something with a gravity of at least above 70 to show that it is selling. Although, the right marketers can sell low gravity products. But, for the purpose of this plan we will stick with the higher gravity products. Once you have chosen your product, we go to the next step.

2. Buy a domain.
Now that you know exactly what you will be promoting, buy a domain. I prefer Namecheap, but you can go with Godaddy or whatever registrar you like. Choose a domain that relates to the product you are promoting but is general enough that you can promote other similar products in the future too. This domain will help you rank better in search engines as opposed to using free blog services. This domain will also give you the ability to become an "authority" site. This domain will then need to be pointed to your host. This brings us to our next step.

3. Buy hosting.
I prefer Hostgator, but you can go with Bluehost or any other hosting service you like. The reason you want to buy your own hosting is because you want to have control over your sites. Shared hosting is something newbies do, but once you become more serious, you will need your own hosting package. Once you have your domain pointed to your hosting servers, then the fun part begins.

4. Install Wordpress
Wordpress is the most popular bloggin platform and for good reason. It is darn easy to use and has alot of options to fully customize your site like thousands of plug ins which are constantly updated. If you are on the go, Wordpress even has a mobile app where you can publish new posts right from your phone! This is very convenient for me as I like to post from my phone at times and it saves me alot of time and hassle. You can pick out a free theme for now and customize the header and the whole appearance of the blog. Once the dough starts rolling in, you can get a premium theme if you like. For now, just customize the heck out of that free theme. Now, we have to do a little work for the next step.

5. Add Content
The phrase "content is king" is very true. Content is the main reason people will visit your site and stay there. You must make sure you are updating your site daily with fresh, original content. The more original content you have on your site, the more Google love you will get too. Don't steal other people's articles and pass them off as yours. Either write new content yourself or outsource it at somewhere like fiverr. Now, that your site is looking pretty and has a good amount of content, let's bring on the visitors!

6. Create a Squeeze Page
Before you are finished make sure you create a squeeze page so you can build up your valuable email list. The money is in the list after all. You can use Aweber which is my favorite. i believe they offer a free 30 day trial offer so you can test drive the auto responder. Definitely worth the $19/mo investment if you are serious about internet marketing and growing that gold mine that marketers call their email list.

7. Advertise and Promote
Ok, your site looks ready for action and your squeeze page is ready to squeeze haha. Now, we need to bring in visitors. There are plenty of ways to bring traffic to your site. If you are on a budget and don't have money to spend on ads, you can use the following free options. You can make a Youtube video and review the product you are promoting on CB. You can link to your site which should have the squeeze page. After they sign up, you can url redirect the visitor to the CB offer or a pre sell page on your blog. You can do forum posting on sites with similar interests as yours. You can build a Facebook Page for your site and promote there while providing helpful posts. You can build a twitter and follow like minded people and get your site traffic through those means. However, if you can afford advertising, that's the best way to go. Adwords, Bing and Facebook Ads are excellent options if you can afford to advertise your blog that way. Just make sure you have a good keyword planner and spend ad money on those keywords that have high search volume.

8. Wait for profits to roll in!
Once you have all of the above in action, it's just a matter of time before people start to sign up for the newsletter or even purchase your affiliate offer on CB. They might subscribe to your Youtube videos which also pay through Adsense btw. They might also subscribe to your email list. The point is if you follow these steps diligently, you will position yourself alot better to make money versus simply taking no action and just forum surfing all day. No, it's not easy work. But, if you love what you do, you won't consider it work at all.

I hope I have given some newer members something to chew on and maybe have your wheels spinning a little bit. At the very least, you should have picked a few different, actionable ideas that you can put to work right now. I usually don't spend this much time on a post, but I thought it might help some of our newer members who just need a nudge in the right direction. Thx for listening.

Nothing new here but this still works. You can use services from fiverr to outsource most of the work.

I have been applying the same steps for affiliate marketing since 7-8 years now, they still work well.
It's no rocket science, just need to put in some hard work before you see any results.

  • Thank you for the 8 Step Action Plan... Just wondering if you have any advice with regards with Email Marketing and creating an Auto-Responder Sequence: What should you send for your 1st, 2nd, 3rd email etc? How frequently should you send the emails? And when should you start promoting your affiliate product?

      Here is my Response --

1)About Squeeze page -when we had a chat on skype i had already shown you one of the best converting squeeze pages with text spread all arounbd the block,I use sendlane as a preferred choice of Autoresponder

2)Dont be afraid to send good stuff ,dont just think about what should i send ,whether they will unsubscribe etc etc,Although email marketing is a personal thing i sometimes send 2 mails a day ,One of them will provide value like a casestudy ,showing them how we made x amount of money in x amount of days ,Then staight of the back i send them another email which is a promotional email and this strategy works pretty well

3)If you still dont know what to why dont you opt in to some good marketers ,and see how they do things ,I did the same ,i have opted in my mentors newsletters and see how they send mail.what is the content etc ,etc ,I copy it and make changes according to my need BOOM here it goes

Try to implement these strategies just asking questions on forum without actually implementing anything wont help ,Take massive action Buddy

and yes you can start sending affiliate offers from day 1,

      Chyanit

What's good about this is it is a numbered list, a checklist, so a person can say, did that, moving on. So they feel like they are making progress. It is too easy to be awash in advice and courses, and not know what to do next.

that is a good checklist there that has been simplified to fit everybody. honestly I have seen many guidance list but no as clear as that. by that surely no one can claim that they have failed or dont have means to earn themselves a decent living. thanks

I'm actually working on a twist of this blueprint right now. The only difference is that I'm not targeting clickbank products, I'm targeting jvzoo/warrior plus products. Also, I have not incorporated the video review and squeeze page aspect of it. That will come with time, I just don't have the funds for it right now.

Seems pretty solid, it's just that it takes a good amount of time before some profit is seen. However, as long as I can see somebody is clicking those links besides me (because I test), that's a good sign.

Thanks for this, I might refer to it again in the near future.

I personally wouldn't have put that as step one.

I would suggest before that for someone to determine HOW they want to make money.

    1. Sell their own stuff (product creator)
    2. Sell other peoples stuff (affiliate)
    3. Provide a service. (services)

Next, determine the niche they want to specialize in. And finish with determining if there is money to be made in that niche.

While it's easy to get into clickbank, this could be a completely unnecessary step.

If you decide you want to go the affiliate route, it's better IMO to do a search for "niche" and "affiliate programs" to get a longer list of where the programs you are really looking for might be.

Example, this search for dog affiliate programs:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=dog+...utf-8&oe=utf-8

While I'm confident there are ebooks about dogs on CB, you'll see there is a huge world of options of things to promote and in different ways.

But even then I wouldn't apply to those programs just yet.

Start building your site FIRST so you have some solid content and a foundation in place.
Then go back and grab some links to things you've spotted that might do well on your site.

Build the site to cater to the offer(s) you want to promote.

    Just a different approach.

I agree will Jill, even though 1-8 is definitely a proven system that is 'evergreen' and a good 'checklist' to follow or better yet; "relentlessly pursue"...

Research however, should always be priority #1.

° Knowing your consumers fears, wants, needs, and desires.

° Knowing their is a 'scalable' market that can be grown and cultivate buyers (*as with building a list & following up)

° And... Ultimately, having a well-rounded 'business plan' before wasting time, energy, and money (rather than running on blind faith or gravity percentiles in Clickbank)

Overall, I do believe this is a good way for newbies to submerse (or baptize) themselves to make that 1st initial sale, and if put to action can be that "AH HA Moment" that enables them to actually make their 1st sale(s) online.

Again, the only thing missing is the research, mental preparation (as Jill mentions of knowing what YOU desire to become of this business venture) and especially; Knowing Your Audience's Needs, Wants, Desires, and/or fears/aspirations!

Still a clear & concise path newcomers (and intermediate marketers) should not avoid, as these methods are truly 'evergreen'.

    Excellent contribution greatness008

PS - Another consideration would be for noobs to find offers that offer recurring monthly or annual commission structures, as doing the same amount of work can create recurring commissions... rather than enter of the mindset of seeking a 'one off' sales approach.

    Ok. Here we go.

      Thanks greatness for your Blueprint,
I will have to say that for many having a Site and loads of content is not necessary.

Iam not saying he can't help you. Of course it can.

But here is a pretty simple way I do it for some of my Niches....
Dating traffic ( PPC) >>>> land on squeeze page where they optin in for a Gift>>> go to thank you page that has one to two affiliate offers I recommend>>>>10 sequence Follow Ups with great content and Offers>>>Broadcasts hereafter with more content and harder Selling

Of course this is a simplistic, general way and there are more details involved but just a good starting point and this is really all you need. Not Rocket Surgery, folks

Action plan is spot on. Just add that you need patience if you do not want to spend on paid website traffic.

Thank you for the awesome 8-step plan. Just one thing I'd like to add . . . . if you're a newbie, like me, and are not sure what to do, or how to do it, please engage a mentor. I wasted too much time and money trying to make it on my own, until I finally realized I needed a mentor. Now I'm making progress. Keep smiling!

      Hello Greatness
On your steps sounds like a go and something to follow to the letter but think maybe some variation could be added depending on level of newbie etc...
      1. On creating a squeeze page how would I do that I mean use the form from the AR - aweber or using WP with some graphics and maybe a custom capture form? Then how will one actually capture emails not just from any old squeeze have had in the past someone just give me(Solos) an aweber form link nothing more?

      2. On advertising and promoting now that is a hard one with getting traffic I suppose could use PPC/A and use FB or BING or GOOGLE etc but if not sure on setup you could waste alot of money doing this big time.. you could also buy solos but needs alot of trial and error with sellers to find the sellers with the clicks you need that convert big time...

on video I think is damn hard as well of course could get one done to review your product or affiliate offer thru some cheap places fiverr.com being one...

Backlinks yes are cool and guess this post is similar to one of those posting on a forum and hoping the post provides some help and advice for users not just ones link to get leads etc only but more than just that.. may take ages to get organic traffic but well worth the effort when clicks and leads come from that method also...

Keywords are the big ones as well as alot of the keywords are taken or used extensively already competition is very high so might be a good idea to go out of the box and use a microniche which is basically an niche from the main one but with 3 or more words used instead of one for example "internet marketing" is taken big time but may get some value out of "How to profit with internet marketing" possible....
Alright I hope these adds on help and keep to the plan and never give even when all else seems gone..
      Rick
P.S Greatness hope these points can be useful as well...

Thanks for the information. Although I am not a newbie, per se, I have stepped away for various reasons and find the information as a refresher. I appreciate the step-by-step process you outlined.

Thanks for sharing these. trust me it is the best way and great tips if you are that person who want to start making dollars online through affiliate marketing among others. One thing with wordpress is that you need not to have the prior knowledge about coding to come up with the website. It is always a plug and play thing. After installation, you will just find a good theme and install and you are good to go. To the new bies ad other interested parties, here is the free advice.

Pay attention to Step 1 and Step 7 because those are very critical in ensuring you are getting in the right track. Do a lot of research in choosing products you want to promote and try different promotion methods to bring in traffic to your landing page.

Really great information in this thread!

    A question:

If I would setup a site and create 10-20 blog posts all related to the same niche and then blend in numerous affiliate links to CB what would be the best way to structure that blog? I would opt for payed traffic through FB ads or other sources and send them to different blog posts.

Should I review the products? Or tell a story? What would be the most converting way of getting the traffic to read the blog post en have them click the affiliate link?

Maybe relatively short blog posts is the best way to go? 200-300 words?

Either way can work as long as you build trust, that's the most important part.

    For content, here's my advice

Don't just take a stab in the dark regarding what you THINK your audience members would like...

FOCUS ON WHAT THEY ACTUALLY LIKE

This means listening to social signals and picking niche-specific content that actually has TRACTION in your niche as judged by retweets/FB shares.

Start with those topics BUT come up with your own twist.

Resolve to BLOW the competition out of the water through.......

    high level engagement content
    attention-grabbing headlines
    easy to share content

The is a great starter plan and one that I'm actually trying to implement right now. Sometimes newbies that are motivated need somewhere to start and gain some IM experience without being shamed. There always seems to be some smart-a$$ member that feels that its their obligation to shame and ridicule someone that is trying to get into IM by asking some basic questions. Hasn't happened to me, but I've been doing plenty of reading and it happens more often than not. Thank you for posting this. Us newbies need more posts like these so that we are not wasting money on coaching and WSOs that pretty much lay out the exact same plan.

Thank a lot for your post. It's extremely useful. But could you please estimate terms? I know it's impossible to give exact term, but how much time will it take to create a squeeze page, than to get traffic and when can I wait the first results?

Incredibly that is what most online business come down to, except eventually you create your own product.

Before doing all that I think its important to run some keyword/niche tests on one page landing pages with AdWords to see if you can get some opt-ins before building a blog with content and all that.

If you can spend $10-20 and get a few optins then you know you are on to something. Otherwise, you may have a dud idea and you would have wasted allot of time.

The main thing I'll recommend to a beginner is to focus on building your email list up. That is your bread and butter for making money. And if you learn how to properly communicate and talk to your list...you're set for success
