Selling Supplements Question

I am thinking of offering suppliments in addition to my product and I have found a private label manufacture who does this but now I have a couple of questions is my mind.

I am thinking what if someone takes them and suffers bad side effect and turns back and want to sue me...how do I avoid this....Are there some disclaimers I need and do these hold value...to add on site or do I certainly need insurance to cover me....my guess is I may need to pass the sales letter through a solicitor but it does help for me to have a general understanding

Mant Thanks

I don't have any experience selling supplements, but if I were you, I would do the following things:

    1. Check out a few popular diet products online, go through the order process, and see what they have you agree to before ordering.

    2. Talk to the private label manufacturer about legal issues, and where responsibility lies.

    3. Talk to a legal counsel for a short time once you have a really good idea of how your sales process will be set up.

I would look into this long and hard, as there are measures before congress that will require all supplements and each size dosage to be approved by the FDA. This is an approximately $15 million process. As you can imagine, such legislation will effectively kill the supplement industry for most manufacturers. It will also raise the price substantially for consumers. Just my 2 cents

The manufacturer has told me there is a $1m dollar liability insurance available free to us too...I have checked some sites like truehealth.com and there doesnt seem to be much on there

Opportunitiesaplenty----for now thats not law yet and I will only be buying according to demand as I can purchase as little as 12 bottles from manufacturer...when that becomes law then it will be time to move on....

    Sherry,
I don't know about the UK, but here in Australia, all supplements must be approved by TGA which is our watchdog, so I'd be getting proof from the manufacturer that the goods are approved and that you are allowed to legally sell them. I'd also get written proof of the insurance.

Also, what happens if someone from outside UK buys them. Are you allowed to export them - this opens up a whole new can of worms.
