The 1 Trait ALL successful marketers have...

17 replies
Ok warriors, I just wanted to give you a quick reminder that there is one trait all successful marketers have. This trait goes beyond just marketers though. I should say most successful people (to be more accurate). But, this is a marketing forum after all. Anyhoo, the one trait that all successful folks have is a very important one. Many people don't have this because they don't realize how vital it is to success. Anyone can start a project. But, not many can see it through the end and beyond, which is actually the most important phase of your project. If you start and don't keep going, then what are you doing this for? Hmm. You see, my friends, this trait is what separates the successful marketers from the rest of the pack. So, with that, I will leave you with that all important, vital trait ALL successful marketers have: Persistence.

      I guess I'm so persistent that I skipped to the last word and then reread part of the post and then started persistently trying to read it again but for some reason my persistence got the better of me and I began to work

    There I Fixed it.

    Way easier to be persistent when you're just following your plan.

    I make quite a bit and trust me, I can not get anything done until I've broken down everything into little pieces and I just go from one thing to the next. That way you can't ever get lost and if it works you have a plan that you can reproduce.

      Anyone can plan, but not everyone can persist. Most people give up on their plan before they succeed. So, it didn't need fixing, but thanks for the effort bub.

        But most people don't and more people aren't. Most people give up period. You can say what you want but even if you're persistent, you won't be successful without a plan.

        I'll agree to meet in the middle here if you want to say that people need both.

        But I'm a big fan of plans. No matter what it is, I have a Visio diagram outlining every process and files to explain it. There's plans that outline utilization of smaller plans to achieve goals. Why did I do this way? Because now I can chuck a plan for say an email marketing campaign to a VA and I know they will do it right.

        So I have my main project plan, which includes plans, that covers a bunch of smaller plans. I built a framework of plans, so now I can take a plan for say "building a niche site" hand it to an employee, and I know they will build me a profitable niche site, with a working content strategy, reasonable SEO, working ad/social/email campaigns. As long as they follow the plan, I'm pretty sure it will work, no guarantees in life obviously.

          I agree that you need a plan. Of course you need a plan. That's the first step. I never said go into your project blindly. All I was saying was that persistence will get you farther than building up a plan and not following through with it.

          I will also meet you in the middle and say you need both. Sounds fair to me bud. Thx for your input.

            I don't really see the point of posting lists of supposedly essential attributes or characteristics of the rich and famous, still less the usefulness of then arguing which one is the more important.

            In my experience, most successful entrepreneurs just have an idea and get on with it, without bogging themselves down in over-analysis. They leave all the post-rationalization of their eventual success to the skill and creativity of their biographers.

              The point is to direct the reader into a certain mindset. Sometimes we get lost in the details and forget what's really important. Sorry if you don't agree bud. Cheers mate.

        I never said don't have a plan, please don't take my words out of context. OF COURSE, you should have a plan, that's a given. I was simply making a statement on the importance of persistence. I said persistence is the one trait all successful marketers have. It's really simple actually.

          What good is persistence if your plan is ill conceived? Persistence can keep you spinning in the wrong direction if that's all you've got going for you.

          Good Judgment is the one trait that anyone needs to succeed in business. Being able to discern the winning ideas from the losers and knowing when to push ahead or cut one's losses(also known as Good Judgment) is the best trait to have in business.

    Visualization has to be most powerful force in the universe (like my master says). It's a first felt sensation, a primal instinct that works wonders for me and others in my team. It's typically activated by secret hypnotic commands THAT ONCE TRIGGERED, the formidable unfolds right before your eyes.

    While both persistence and planning are both important... and to avoid the ongoing debate, I refer to Napoleon Hill;

    Paraphrasing here a bit;

    "Define YOUR purpose... Render a service!"

    I don't care if you plan, persist, or you throw stones -or- thrust yourself (or your foot) against the stone...

    Neither holds significance to knowing; "Your Chief Aim, and What Service(s) You Are Willing to RENDER...

    In the exchange for love, money, sex, or that which YOU desire most to be, become, and plan & persist in becoming your reality!

    Thank-You, I'll be here all week... As I once again have defined my chief aim, and despite my initial plan, and persitence in redering top-level workmanship for my (now previous employer)...

    I have since rendered (2) birds, as a clear channel service message (in support of my Chief Aim & planned persistence to live free of the willfully ignorant) by which, I niether plan, nor persist to NOT be paid 'after' the job/service was complete & professionally rendered.

    [chuckles & grins]

    Perhaps, my chief aim is greater than both my plan or my ability to persistently resist it... But, it centers upon 100% bold & profound honest & ethical practices (until 'they' piss me off, then the other me shows up, lmfao)

    °Define YOUR Chief Aim

    °Render a Service

    °Plan

    °Relentlessly Pursue

    °Persist!

    °Measure Your Success (or failure)

    °Rinse & Repeat

    No one woman or man has attained success by virtue of one trait, and one trait alone...

    We could shoot verbs and action words like a freaking AR-15 and still never hit the bullseye... to sum it up in 3 action words; determination precedes persistence
