Be Honest Warriors - how much time do you spend each day on the forum?

I realize this is a tight knit community. I also realize that forums can be addicting.

Forums can make you (by gaining knowledge and networking with other webmasters) or the forums can break you (wasting too much time reading posts they have no business reading, spending hours on end as they tell themselves they are "networking"

So fellow warriors, I ask you... How much time to you spend each day on the forum?

Keep fighting the good fight!

Been reading for the last few weeks (and posting for a few days) and find that it gets me motivated if I spend a while on in the morning and then at night before I nod off - have to make sure I don't spend too much time reading or I start to get distracted (too much good stuff to read - and way too many ideas coming in for me to process some times).

For me, it depends. I leave it open in a tab at all times and if I have a question while im working, click it and post a thread.

And I think everyone will agree that sometimes you can get caught up in a thread or 2 and keep coming back all day to follow it.

Really, it don't matter how much time you spend here, its how you utilize the time while your here.

I don't spend as much time on the forum as I used to.

My day is pretty much divided between the following activities and hours.

      Work - 2 hours
      Recording Studio - 6 hours
      PC Games - 4 hours
Forum - Off and on throughout the day about 2 hours of reading and
      posting

That takes me from 7 AM to about 11 PM on an average day.

Of course there are days I have to go out either to the doctor or to
take my daughter to school or work or go shopping or sometimes I'll just
go out hunting for a new PC game.

My work day is practically non existent now. A few days a month, I
might put in a 6 or 8 hour day, but for the most part, I'm semi retired
now and really enjoying it. I've completed 3 CDs of 16 songs each between
October and now. I've logged in countless hours between Sim City,
Combat Mission, Out Of The Park Baseball, Hoyle Card and Board Games,
Risk, Space Colony, Monopoly and Flight Simulator 2002.

I also watch a lot more TV than I used to and spend a lot of time
either on YouTube or Pandora Radio listening to music.

I find that spending just a couple of hours a day here, I still get to see
the main threads, answer PMs, find out what's new and even make a few
posts. I reached 12,000 posts months ago and as you can see I'm not
even close to 13,000. My posting frequency has dropped like a rock.

I think there are people who would prefer it that way.

Having said that, I still love this place. There are people here who I can't
imagine not having some kind of contact with on a daily basis.

Even when the day comes that I completely retire (it's not far off) I'm
still going to come here and try to answer questions and help folks out.

I guess you'd say this is still kind of my second home.

I just don't spend as much time there as I used to.

When I first found the forum I use to spend hours reading and learning. There is so much helpful information here. Then I thought to my self I am just reading and learning I have to do more doing or I am not going to get anywhere. I need to start building my blog.

So I limit my time here. I think there needs to be a balance between working on your business blog and networking and learning new stuff. I think they are all important to a successful business but you need to manage your time correctly to be successful

Hi my name is Michael Mayo and I am addicted to the Warrior Forum.

I looked and looked for a WA site to break me from the habit with no luck.

Then I purchased the domain name WarriorsAnonymous.com although with out
anyone there I slipped back into the WF and never did anything with the site.

After that I joined AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and they said that there
was nothing they could do for me...

Now I just hang out here hoping that other Warriors will drop food crumbs
so that I can feed my family.

I have to go now there is another thread that I need to post in. Bye now!

    Have a Great Day!

    Too much

I tend to stop by in-between blocks of work, or after I've done my work for the day. Or whenever I'm procrastinating.

As long as you're disciplined about getting your actual work done first then time spent in the forum is generally a positive thing.

I've learned a ton from the forum and met a bunch of awesome people here who have gone on to become affiliate partners, supporters, and more importantly... friends.

I hear you. I was just about to put up a post "Any Cure For The Warrior Forum" when I saw your post. It really can be extremely addictive if you are not strict about limiting your time on it.

I may not look at the forum for weeks on end but when I do come back I spend hours at a time when I should be doing other things. Trouble is that the Warrior Forum is so good. There is so much going on and so many good people willing to help each other.

Forget about buying courses. Almost everything about everything is probably already on the forum.

      Good question.

As I mentioned in one of my other posts, I stoped being a lurker and decided to really roll my sleeves up and see how I could contribute....seeing that I was doing nothing but taking.

Anyway, I have since developped a habit where I just sort of leave the warrior forum open on one screen (I have a double monitor setup) while I do my other stuff, and from time to time, I check in and read some more, and occasionally, I post. But as whole, I probably spend about 2 1/2 hours a day on the forum.

The amount of time I spend really depends on if I have a question that needs answering or if I'm just surfing.

If I have a question then I will spend a lot of time reading through your responses and asking follow-up questions to make sure I understand.

However if I'm surfing I tried a limit that to just a few minutes a day. This forum has a way of sucking time away from me.

I tend to research a theme each week. For instance this week it is CPA. I type in CPA in the Google search and then I read all the threads and copy and paste and that way I get a clear idea of what CPA offers are. It is an area at the moment I want ot branch into, it makes no sense to purchase an expensive course when with a little detective work I can find what I want right here under my nose.

Soooooooo I may spend about ten hours a week reseaching and reading copying and pasting, however I do not regard that as wasted. I spend maybe anotehr fifteen minutes reading the headlines of threads and posting

I used to be on the forum about 12-16 hours a day, studying everything I could about internet marketing. I finally decided to get focused on only one area of IM and learned to overlook the rest. I know. It's hard to keep wondering eyes, in check, but for me... it was worth it.. Now, I come to the forum only to provide a helpful tip or to see what's going on, which I would say is a total of about 3 hours a week. Now, my focus is strictly on taking action and making money.

don't you wish they'd serve coffee?
Then again, I would never leave!

I try to spend as little time as possible on forums, blogs, etc.
So if I'd divide it by percentage, that'd be 80% of my time I'm working - 20% reading.
And in this industry I've noticed that this is actually rarely seen.

I try to limit my time here to 40-45 minutes max per day. Of course, when I find interesting threads (happens quite often on this forum) it's hard to stick to the limits.

I'm getting better at it, though. Now I only spend my forum time here. Earlier I was a forum addict, reading almost everything on 6 different forums almost every day. Obviously I didn't get much work done back then...

Lets start a WA (Warriors Anonymous) club and every Friday we DONT meet.

We can either all come to Warrior Forum and talk about how addictive this place is
    OR
We can call Friday our WA meeting and no WF that day, I know its sad

I've been spending around 3 or 4 hours each day going through past threads and soaking up knowledge, but I'm new to internet marketing (and the forum) so I see this as a something of a crash course. As far as education goes, you really can't beat the price.

For me, sometimes 10 minutes or less. Sometimes well over an hour.

I think it depends on whether or not posts are of interest to the Warrior at a specific point in time. If they are of interest the Warrior will stay and contribute, if not the Warrior will go elsewhere.

I'm not sure that posting to forums for half your day is a good idea though (I've seen some posts on the thread that allude to this), unless a lot of the time spent and the posts are focused directly on getting sales or contacts.

Otherwise - the time would be better spent developing and improving the business. Or building one!

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff Henshaw.

WF is my reward when I've finished a project.

Coffee and a good old read. I call it research!

But, I am a bit more disciplined than I used to be - I only allow myself 15 minutes and then it's back to work.

However, I do check back regularly throughout the day as some of my clients prefer to contact me via PM.

I try not to spend any more time than I have to. Perhaps about 15-20 minutes per session with about 2-3 sessions per day.
