Basically, the general idea is, don't worry about giving away content for free. On the one side, you have content which is specifically designed to sell, give away teasers, purposefully hold some information back etc...which seemed to be the way until recently. on the other you have a more liberal approach where you don't worry about it.
I've had a few debates on this concept and wondered what your thoughts were...?

I've been thinking and observing the giants in this game who have built a huge loyal following. And what I can see is that they generally don't worry about what they give away, what they write about, what they stick up on youtube in terms of quality content.
It seems to me that the general philosophy is to spread great value out into the world with the idea that great value will be returned to you through loyal fans and ultimately monetary investment in you and ultimately your fans feel more secure in you as a person/brand/knowledge base and maybe reciprocation becomes more at play.
Is this idea way off? I get the feeling that this might be market specific and only work in certain circumstances but its just something i've observed and found interesting to think about.
