I started doing this about 6 years ago and joined an online marketing place that I would log into and learn everything I needed to know to make money online, supposedly.
But back then there were a few things that were different and although I didn't make any money I learned a lot from this place. They did have some bad advice as they recommended not using adwords and going with a smaller company.
I tried it for about a month after setting everything like the instructions said and I was supposed to be getting highly targeted traffic from these ads. I kept checking everyday for sales and nothing day after day then one day i figured out how to find out where my ads were actually being shown and I just about blew up.
I had adds for pregnancy and some other health issues showing up on gun and 4 wheeler sites more often then not. I contacted the company I was using and they said nothing was wrong and I pointed out to them that the ads weren't showing up where i wanted them and asked why this happened.
I really didn't get an answer so I left them and went to adwords. After my first day of ads I made a sale and was very happy but that was the last time I was happy.
I just couldn't figure some things out, I tried testing my ads and did what at the time I knew how to do but things would always be just so wired as maybe one day i would make 5 or 6 sales then nothing at all the rest of the week.
I just couldn't figure out why a bunch of people would by the same thing from the same ad one day then nothing the rest of the week or maybe I would get 2 sales later in the week. The bottom line was I was spending more on ads then what I was making so after about 3 months of doing this I stopped.
So my question is how many of you have done something similar to what I did and had the same results and how many got great results. The thing that I still find puzzling to this day why 6 people would buy on the same day and no one else the rest of the week. What in that ad sparked them to buy but not anyone else and also why not the other ads. Why was there no consistent sales I just still don't get it.
