Giving away completely free products... not managing to build hits

Hello

For 6 months now I have been giving away free sound effects (almost 10,000 and all very high quality) via a new website (6 months old domain, no previous use)

I am at 150 unique hits/sessions a day and it's taken 6 months to get there. However I'm not seeing a rise. I am doing a lot of backlink building but nothing seems to work.

The site was built with SEO in mind and follows all good practices.

Any ideas on ways I can promote my site? Considering it's all free, I am certain a few tips and tricks should really give the site a massive push!

Thanks

One thing you don't mention is advertising. You still need to advertise to be picked out from the several billions of websites out there on Google, and growing.

You really can't rely any more on just backlinks and a rise in the serps with Google to get a lot of organic traffic from, you need to promote yourself somewhere. If you have little money to spend on advertising across the net, then use the social media sites and try and produce videos with pictures and the sounds in the background you are offering, then put them on Youtube.

Use paid advertising to fuel your site. Honestly your website could have been booming now (after 6 months) if you had thrown a consistent amount of paid advertising to it each month. Start doing it now so that you won't have to ever struggle with the website traffic problem.
