There is a lot of information available on the Internet about bum marketing. Like you said, some of it is out of date. But if you do a Google search I am sure you can find more up to date info. Travis is not the only person giving information away.

Thanks for the info! I ran across Travis as someone else had mentioned his name... you are right in the fact that there is a LOT of free stuff out there. He appears to be one of the "good" guys

Dianne,

From what I've seen in the past, I suspect that Travis has a Google Alert set up for the term "Bum Marketing." He will probably see your request and might even join in on the discussion.

Regardless, Travis' methods still work. For a broader approach, you might consider taking a look at this year's 30-Day challenge. They are proponents of several tools, all of which are free during the challenge, but their system (really just more fleshed-out bum marketing) can be done without them as well.

Just do a Google search for "thirty day challenge."

The last couple of years seemed to drag. This year seems to be better paced. For a true newbie there will be a LOT of information to digest each day, but it will be a complete education in the methods they use.

I agree with with Kelly Verge. Check out the Ed Dale's 30 day challenge. I have been going through it and I have learned so much. They take you from nothing to having a business in 30 days. Best of all it is free.

There is probably now new information on his Bum Marketing site, because there doesn't need to be! The concept is fairly simple: direct link from your articles to your affiliate product. That's it in a nutshell.

The rest is up to you cranking out articles and posting them to article directories. I am still pretty involved in this Bum Marketing method; and it definitely still works. The two keys to being successful with this is: keyword research and massive amounts of articles.

Sure, I forgive ya! Thanks for finding my thread.

The one thing that I find as a newbie? (been at this for a year and a half), is that you find great information only to find that it may be outdated. Not all of it (as you mention, the base principles), just some of it. A good portion is evergreen, but when you think you have found some great info and there is an older date stamp on it from a couple of years ago, I know personally, I wonder if the information is still applicable to today's marketing. Maybe even updating the dates on the material would be worth going back as to give it a fresh look and feel.

Or, you go to someone's step-by-step instructions in their ebook (for example, they are teaching you to do something like AWeber) only to find that the application has changed and you are struggling to find the "new" buttons they are now using on that page. It becomes very frustrating. Your step-by-step instructions have now become your worst nightmare. You have paid good money for a product, think that you have found the exact solution to your problem only to find you are no better off than you were before. People give up, drop it and it is lost on their hard drive never to be read again (unfortunately). I know it is impossible to keep up with all the changes that take place in all of the different applications but as someone who has been there, done that I know how frustrating it is.

Travis is amazing. I have his Bum Marketing outline and reread it a lot. He is such a salesman I am ready to buy the puppy training he mentions in his report and I don't have a puppy! BTW Travis do you think US FREE ADS is still a good source for getting links and indexed by Google? I see some of my stuff get indexed and then it falls off.

Another great source for tips and ideas for bum marketing is Dean Shainin. I think he is a warrior also. He is at bummarketingwiz.com He has great ideas in his emails and ebooks!

  There is a new product out, you can find it if you Google "Conversations with Travis". It is endorsed by Travis, but run by another BUM Marketer. There is a fantastic forum, plenty of step by step videos, and an action plan for getting going. You may be more advanced than this, but why not check it out?
  
  When I got in it was a one time fee of $29. In our house right now, that meant we didn't get to drive for a week. But I am really, really glad to have that resource. It's one of the reasons I know my family will be okay. It's that good.

This thread you started is very informative as Travis contribution and others showed great wisdom.
I just read travis bum marketing training.
great stuff.
He has a large heart and today he has become love by it. I bet i will buy any thing recommended or sold by travis.
Hope most IM see that adding value is a long term investment. travis did this some yeas ago and till date people are still giving him due accolades.
I truelly believe giving real value that really worth SOME dollars has eternal rewards. not these free plr products flying around, i mean creating something totally new and give it out.
travis to me is the IM legend. this forum needs to honor him for doing that.
if you disagree with me try sell your tight info like that and see if greed will allow you.

I'll second the Conversations with Travis program, it's now called 4 day money making blueprint. It has lots of videos that take you step by step through Travis' bum marketing. And there's the forum that's been mentioned. This is excellent for people starting out.

There is nothing complicated about bum marketing I don't think he could possibly write anymore about it. Simple find highly searched keyword phrases with low competition, get to the top pages of google yahoo msn without paying a dime. Pretty simple idea...
