Emails asking to pay me to advertise their website

I've gotten a few of these emails in the past, but for the most part ignored them thinking they were just spam emails. However, recently I got another one of these emails saying they would pay me $XXX/month to advertise their website on my website.

My website is a low traffic ~500 visitors a month, and does not actually generate any income and doesn't have any content related to the website they want advertised.

So why would someone be contacting me saying they would pay me such a significant amount to advertise their website? This screams scam to me, but what exactly would I be scammed out of since they are paying me?

How should I go about handling these types of emails?

Thanks.

If it's not a scam then it's spam. Either way, ignore, block, & delete.

You're probably right about it being spam, I replied back anyway, not expecting a reply back.

Out of curiosity, in what ways could I end up on the scammed side of things?

Who knows people are sneaky. You can find out if you want but I would delete, and ignore.

That is the point where you need to be very careful. There are people all over want to exploit you for their own personal gain. We are in the world and era where everyone one is busy looking for money all over. People know this and thus will tend to use it as bait of landing luring you into doing things that you will regret doing. be sure to ask them why they want you to advertise their website and what content does their website have. It will help a lot.
