Am I on track here? (I'm looking for feedback from people who have made over $1,000 in IM)

I've been at Internet Marketing for about eight months so far, on a part time basis.

So far I have not made any money.

I was able to get my last site on to Google page one. The problem was that I picked a keyword that had very little traffic. So, even though I was on page one, I only got a trickle of traffic. In fairness, I did earn about $5.00 from this site via Adsense. I'm looking for $5.00 per day, not $5.00 total.

I'm hoping to get feedback on my latest site so that if I'm not on track I can make corrections.

Here are the details:

primary keyword: medical billing and coding (135k monthly searches, $8.50 CPC, Google exact match search - with "" = 633k)

additional supporting keywords: medical billing and coding (careers, courses, jobs, online, salary, schools, training, work)

I've been working on this site for about two weeks. Everyday I add one post and one backlink (via social bookmarking sites, other blogs and Angela's links).

So far I'm indexed but still way out in the weeds on ranking in Google.

Am I on track here? Can I reasonably expect to get enough traffic to generate $5.00 per day? If so, how long until it gets to that level (i.e. how many posts and links will I need)?

Please be brutally honest in your feedback as I don't want to waste time if this is a doomed effort.

Here is the site: Medical Billing and Coding World - for anyone interested in medical billing and coding

I know I'm not supposed to give out all the details of a site because someone might jump into the same niche and increase the competition. At this point, I'm so frustrated that I don't care about competition, I just want to know if I'm heading in the right direction or if this is doomed effort.

Thank you all in advance for you thoughts.

The AdSense game is a hard one to play these days in my opinion. I think you'd be better off selling. Plus you need your own domain.

I've created over $1000 on ebay...does that count?

anyways, I also do affiliate marketing to, and I don't see anything
wrong with the site itself, looks well done and you did have success
    from it.

Personally, when things don't work out the way I want them to, I keep
finding ways to improve or find the problem and correct it.

Your doing the right things it seems, but im sure someone with experinece
with SEO (i don't have much of it, i use direct payed traffic) can help

you seem to have picked a tough niche. You're up against 1,060,000 pages for "medical coding and billing" (exact match) and 44k allintitle. In addition, the results on page 1 are not a bunch of web2.0 sites but many are authority sites.

My guess it would be better to focus on a sub niche (like training). If not you'll have a long uphill battle.

    Best,

    Johan

    Hey Mitsu..

I've made a smidge more than the $1,000 .. so I guess I'm qualified to reply?

The problem we have in advising you is:

Without knowing the keywords, competition, previous data etc we can't help you much.

We don't know what skills your currently possess and what resources you have at your disposal to get things moving.

    Now, having said that.

I have run many, many campaigns from a simple blogger blog like the one you are using. It's not completely out of the question to test a niche like this until you find profitability.

At this point, I would normally recommend you get a domain and your own hosting. But, if you are going to use the free blogger blog... I would suggest you do these things:

    1) Find a healthy list of keywords related to your niche, using the following 3 tools:

Keyword Questions – Keyword Research Tool

    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

    Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool

Look for keywords with a healthy daily search estimate, but don't rely on the numbers too much.. the presence of a keyword from one of those tools is enough to pique my interest in a niche

Just be sure to check the competition of a keyword each time to gauge how much work you are going to have to do.

Don't try to beat Goliath if you don't really need to...

    2) Use the keywords to craft a solid stable of content on your blog.. 20 - 30 different, keyword and non keyword optimised blog posts..

    3) Use the same content on other properties as articles, this can give you a surge of traffic and also gain valuable backlinks to your blog... increasing your strength further in the search engines.

    4) Promote the hell out of that blog Using your content for articles, videos(?), squidoo lenses, HubPages, Weebly sites..

The ONLY way you will find the profit in any niche, is to actively drive traffic to your pages and then test different ways of monetization...

I also have a few free reports here that you can have, no opt-in, simply download:

    Here's the first one:

    http://affilimaxconversions.com/keyw...hotsources.zip

^ A sneaky little trick to drill down into the article directories to find hot, performing keywords from top authors... you'll really like this one if you are into your content writing and/or finding hot keywords.

    http://affilimaxconversions.com/blogprofits.zip

^ Top ten monetization methods for your blog.... some people actually charge for this information..

    http://affilimaxconversions.com/plrcashinjection.zip

^ A detailed look into the use of PLR content in your business.. how and where to use it for maximum leverage..

Like I said, no opt-in, no charge... simply download, unzip the files and enjoy the content

I hope this helps you some, and I wish you success in your business

    Peace

    You need your own domain.

I didn't see the adsense ads at all when I went to your site. (Could be my ad blocker)

    You need lots of backlinks.

Use onlywire.com to submit to social bookmarking sites.
