Warriors this needs to change...

Warriors

I have been reading a lot of posts in the last few days ( being in hospital) and there has been on going issue with the help threads that has been missed.

Many time help has been asked and the answers though being good could be better , now what i am trying to say is and will use this as an example.

" I want to get into internet marketing" and some of the answers and these are from Warriors been here a little while are:
  1. Build a list
  2. SEO
  3. Affiliate marketing
  4. Fiverr
Just to name a few but what is missing is the how to do it ! I know we can not mention our own products but maybe guide them to a blog or another Warrior who could help , think about how hard it was when you first posted a question and now think of a Warrior who does not speak English at home and their writing is not to great either but they know to asked how do I do this?

Makes it a lot harder if we as a collective give them answers like they know how.

There is a great sub forum here on the WF maybe this could help.

Most of the time it is not the answers but overly vague questions. i.e. "How do I make money online?" How do you answer that in a forum post. Ask a vague question get a vague answer. But, if you ask a detailed question then you will get some pretty good detailed answers

You have to understand that people are busy these days and do not have time to write a long post that answers every possible question in full detail.

If you are wanting a more detail response then ask a more specific questions. Vague questions will get vague responses. Also it is the not the members of the forum to hold anyone that ask questions hand. If you do not understand "how to do" something, then follow the F.I.O method. It is the greatest method for success. It stands for: Figure It Out.

I have to disagree as most of the people answering the posts are doing it every day and have been here for a few years

I think that is a bad example.

With a vague question like that, you can only give general answers so the OP has some guidance to search for more information.

There is no point with writing a long reply detailing "how to" set up a funnel and run a list only to have the OP come back and say. "But I want to be an Amazon affiliate and build review sites".

Also, most people that ask questions like that rarely come back to the thread and respond to replies. Many good replies with some suggestions that ask for more details go unanswered and unthanked.

Warriors who ask more detailed or specific questions and engage in the thread discussion to clarify issues and provide feedback do generate good discussion threads.

The threads like your example tend to be abandoned by the people starting the threads.

Exactly. I'll add my knowledge when I see the OP has already done some research or demonstrates a serious attempt at getting set up. For instance, a list of steps already taken.

The vague questions have usually been asked based on a whim.

I really don't care about that any more. I post for all the people who may read it at some point and actually be interested in the answers provided.

I guess this is a double edged sword.

First there are the questions that seem to get asked every other day - sometimes 2-3 separate threads with the same question on a day...

Then there are questions that could get answered in more detail but get left unanswered.

FIO really is the best way to go...
After all, who would take business advice from some stranger over the internet?

But I also find the problem is that there are many people on here who really just want to display their signature and offer very little to the discussion.

    Regional Warrior,

To my way of thinking . . . the detailed "how to do it" information is the responsibility of the asking party. Whether that means getting a mentor, buying a course, reading a blog, or whatever . . . I personally am turned off by the entitlement mentality that so many new people coming to the forum seem to have.

It seems to me people often come here expecting successful business owner members to lay out every detail of what they are doing to make money online. You see it all the time in threads like "give me your best places to advertise," "what are the best selling products for affiliates," "who are your best content writers," etc, etc.

Successful people are busy and they have their own businesses to attend to. For someone to write a post that details what is necessary to make money online is not only a time-consuming chore, but it is also an invitation to have your system hi-jacked by people that aren't afraid to copy and paste every bit of proprietary content you own.

Years ago the mods suggested that people post one question at a time. It shows that you're serious and it makes answering that question in depth much easier for the members.

I like to be helpful and will give my honest answer to any question you ask. But if you come here and want to have everything laid out for you it just suggests to me that you're lazy and expect a handout.

    Steve and all the others
I was more implying the ones who are not native English speaking ! and I agree others just want it now, as I wrote in another thread I call that the Netflix syndrome.

and within six months most of them just quit and move to something else , I like the PM I Got a few weeks ago " your rich make me a top Google website that make me money" so after I stopped laughing I thought how serious this person was and the perception was that I am making money and lots of It.

The hard part is trying to teach newbies there are steps to take and each one is like learning first they applying some testing and then go for it make bank.
So I guess making threads like this is no more and just move on huh!

I can't stand those types of oblivious threads (ex: I want to get into internet marketing). Those are the same folks that will buy every WSO that glitters with hype because they can't think on their own.

I'm all for asking questions as long as they're about something specific (ex: how to add a contact form, how to find niche traffic, how to tie a shoe, etc...). I'd rather see those types of actionable questions than read about how someone read an article on Forbes about a guy that got rich on the internets (how can I get paid?).

From my perspective the hardest part is getting these newbies to to first decide what it is they want from I.M. Are they looking to make money or build a business? Are they trying to quit their J.O.B. or just looking for extra income every month? Are they passionate about anything or just heard about I.M. and figured it was easy to do?

Until these basic things are figured out, none of the questions - or the answers - will matter much.

I can understand someone buying every sparkly product - especially when they are just starting out. I was that guy once. It's those who still do after a year (or 5) trying to make money on line, then beat up those who actually contribute value by saying it's not enough - give me more! Seen that drive away many of the ACTUAL contributors on this forum over my years here...
