MailChimp postal question

I just set up a MailChimp subscriber form on my site. I'm new at this and used the free version. It asked me for a mailing address and phone no., OK. But I test-signed up and it took me to a page where my address, which is my home address, is showing. It won't let me leave it blank. Obviously I don't want everyone who subscribes to get my street address. Since I'm on the free plan, there's no support offered by MailChimp other than what's on the site and I could not find info on this.

Do I need to rent a mailbox or virtual mailbox in order to have a signup form that does not expose my address?

You need to display a valid postal address and contact info in each email to be CAN-SPAM compliant.

    4. Tell recipients where you’re located. Your message must include your valid physical postal address. This can be your current street address, a post office box you’ve registered with the U.S. Postal Service, or a private mailbox you’ve registered with a commercial mail receiving agency established under Postal Service regulations.

Most Autoresponders enforce this. I have a UPS Store mail box I use for my business address.

Thanks. I did find their suggestions for alternate addresses, and none work for me. I wish they were a bit clearer with the info. Guess there's no choice. I'm going to use one of those virtual mailboxes where they scan your mail, as it sounds kind of useful at times, and one starts at $5 a month.

Do you find you get junk mail as a result of showing an address? Would be ironic to get paper junk mail for complying with the CAN-SPAM act.

I don't get much junk mail to my business address from IM. I get more from being in non-IM contacts like banks and stores I have physically shopped in.

But I would never use my home address. Don't want someone who didn't get a refund they wanted to track me down lol

Found something perfect, USA2me. Pay a small fee once, then pay as you go... they notify you of any mail or packages then you can have them forward them and pay for that. Wow I had no idea such things even existed! People will think I live in a state I don't think I would ever live in, but whatevs...
