I dunno - I just find this amusing...

I see a newly-launched IM product that basically claims it will give you MULTIPLE 5-figure income streams -- but then all the affiliates are sending emails that say, "HURRY!!! When timer hits zero, there will be a TWO-DOLLAR price increase!!"

So, I'm gonna buy this thing cuz it's gonna make me rich overnight, but I'm also supposed to worry that I might miss the 2-dollar price increase deadline.

Things that make ya go HHhhmmm?

The ones that get me are the ones that say "Double your profit". How do they know what my profit is?

And if they can promise to double any business' profit, think of how valuable that would be to companies like Apple and Google.

The ones that get Claude are the ones that say "Lose weight in 14 days", and don't work.

He's taken it on the chin though.

I love that. They aren't aware of the obvious first thought, "Double what?"

A related claim is, "I doubled my income in only one month. You can too!".

My first thought is, "If you made $40 last month, and this month you made $80......don't brag".

In sales, I hear, "I have a 100% closing percentage". what they mean is...they talked to their Mom, she bought, and then they stopped working.

When a headline says, "Double your profit", it alerts me that an amateur is writing the copy. It's an ambiguous claim that doesn't sell anything.

"All you need is an internet connection, Commodore 64, and two hands with just one finger on each. You can even supplement it by using your chin if it's pointy enough.

Heck, my 5 year old can do it, taking instructions from my wife's unborn child. In fact, my 5 year old is shortly to retire and move to the Bahama's.

It's so easy, just point and click your mouse just 5 times, copy and paste my crap copy, rinse and repeat 500 more times and your done for the day. Free to crawl exhausted into bed and sleep 6 hours before waking up and starting again."

Hurry, Only, 6000000000000000000000000000 copies left before The Price goes up 50 cents."

      You see, good copy sells.

So "double your income" is read as "big money" and no one considers
          $0 x $0 = $0

A good copywriter can write a sales page that makes you fill in the blanks with your own imagination! If you read enough MMO sales pages - you'll see the pattern but many buyers never seem to notice it.

Hey wait a second. Is this OT or Main Forum ?

You guys got me confused here lol

Anyway, there are so many ploys people use and think they work. They do in some cases but many people are starting to become more and more annoyed by them.

This countdown to a price increase in many cases ( if it is not followed through) is just Fraud. imo

I agree about the 'countdown' - that's right up there with "$997 value but YOU can get it for $4.95"

            • Things can be taken out of context to sound impressive.

'I had explosive growth last year, 1000% increase in revenue'

When really they just made $550 increase of $50. It's sad.

It wasn't so much the income claim that made me chuckle - it was the income claim *coupled* with the urgent "threat" that if you don't hurry up and buy this miracle-maker before the timer hits zero, you're gonna have to pay an extra TWO DOLLARS for it!

Strange, as I just got an email from a "digital marketer"... With a free 6 week training offer, and you all would never guess the name of it, lol.

Yep... "Double Your Profit" - it's like a weird *deja vu* or that NLP thing Tony Robbins talks about called; the "Reticular Activator System" (RAS)... whereby, you start noticing the same shit is magically appearing everywhere!

It is the "we only have one left" and the *offer ends and price goes up after such and such an hour" ones that make me want to trace them and hire an assassin..

I mean, if you are selling something, it should have a fixed price, but this offer countdown stuff belongs to the morgue unless it is genuine!

Not only the the timer hits zero issue, just look at how many authors to sell a single product nowadays? It is very hard to find a product which only has ONE (1) single author. At the moment, minimum now is 3 persons (authors) for a $4.95 product. LOL.

There used to be a running ad for a local HVAC company that offered tune-ups. Their guarantee went something like this:

"Guaranteed to save up to 15% on your heating bill..."

So guaranteed to save less-than or equal-to 15%. If it costs me $5 more per month, they are still good on their guarantee.
