Well, this depends on you traffic source. I

f you're sending cold traffic to a website then your best bet is to send them to your squeeze page. Sending them to a blog post will confuse them and there isn't really a clear CTA.

Squeeze page. But test both for yourself. Not all squeeze pages are the same, and not all hover ads are the same.

The one that you optimize and test the most will perform the best

Actually it depends on the on your traffic source. If your traffic is targeted, you may get the best result. On the flip side if the traffic is not targeted, the result may not good. Thanks a lot.

If you have both and neither of them are optimized through A/B split testing a squeeze page will generally convert about 3 times better.

However, conversions through your blog will have a higher trust factor.

But, it really depends on many factors and depends heavily what your ultimate goal is with your subscribers.
If you send them to a squeeze page they only have two options: sign up or leave. If you send them to your blog they have multiple articles to read, they can sign up, comment and or follow you on twitter. A lower initial conversion rate is not necessarily a bad thing if you are also trying to grow a brand.

IMHO: Squeeze page for the quick buck, blog for a sustainable, long-term relationship and branding.

Squeeze page performs better. Ask yourself, whenever you go to a blog and you see the popup, do you subscribe to it? I normally don't.

In my experience a squeeze page will convert as high as 40-50% to targetted traffic. Pop up might be 5-15%.

These percentages will obviously change depending on niche, traffic etc.

The point is a squeeze page will always convert better.

How long is that piece of string?

This answer will depend on many factors and your answer will only be discovered by you testing.

You'll want to use a squeeze page WITH a optin pop up along with one on the page for best conversions.
