Doodle videos vs traditional taking heads

According to some sites doodle videos - whiteboard animations - are supposed to be a far more effective marketing tool than using a video showing you talking to the camera. Does anybody have experience that they covert better?

There have been done quite a few studies on that topic. However, it seems most are done by psychologists, not marketers, who not focus on things like conversion rate but rather on entertainment, the information that can be extracted etc. Here is one of those. Animated video wins over talking head. I can't prove it but I think it also depends on the niche, product and person (charisma, sympathy etc.).

Thanks for showing me this very interesting study. It offered me a new insight into the issue.

I have no proof, but it seemed to work like this...

Students will easily absorb information from what their teacher write and maybe draw some related pictures on the board in front of the class, rather than see the teacher's face all the time.

Yes, this is not always, especially if the teacher has more charisma, handsome or beautiful and sexy, etc.

But mostly... the text and drawing picture on the board will be stay on students mind easily, hence the message has been called delivered. This what whiteboard video does!

And real hand professional whiteboard video always cost more than any professional talking head video with professional spoke person... which may mean whiteboard video is better.

    Just my opinion, anyway.

Beautiful and sexy can be a distraction as much as an asset. I had an instructor in college that was so hot they almost had to disable the sprinkler system. It's been almost forty years now, and while I don't remember a single thing she taught, I can still describe the outfit she wore to the final exam...

I also know a pretty liberal guy who likes to watch Fox News with the sound turned down, just to watch the "reporters."

Beyond that, I think your analysis is right on.

The value of a whiteboard / drawing is visualisation of concepts and steps.

A talking head is important to establish human connection.

Each has value in the appropriate application and both can be executed either effectively or ineffectively.

I would say that talking videos videos are good for situations like a product review because it's trustworthy to see a person actually using the product.

Whiteboard animations are excellent for promoting a business or for explainer videos as they use animations and audio to tell a story that engages the viewer better than talking videos.
