Rather than embedding the video, why not just place an image that looks like the video was embedded. When someone clicks the "play button" in your video screenshot image, they're taken to a page on your website (or youtube) where the video plays.

I've used this and had pretty good results on various email campaigns. Give it a try...

An alternative would be to use Lizzer.com to embed a snapshot of your video (with the play icon) on your email message. This will "trick" your readers into thinking that the image is a playable video. Once they click it, a new window will open and your video page will load up.

EDIT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT: duh! John Tucker beat me to the punch!

Well I hope this video can help you to add an image in Gmail.

I created another video to show a image from Youtube being inserted. I clicked on the image before clicking on the "Link" Button which I don't think I said I did.

Thanks Coleen. I checked out Lizzer.com for a quick minute...will need to look into it a bit more later. Does it automatically make the image thumbnail from youtube with a playbutton on it and place it in your email?

I currently take a screenshot of my video, photoshop a playbutton on top of it, and then save it as a jpg. It's a basic way of doing it, but it works. If there was a quick tool to make these images I'd be interested.
