It depends on the market, on the niche, and on the website CMS and structure. There are many other considerations, but those are paramount. And before you do begin to purchase traffic, remember to setup a means of traffic capturing first - newsletter, socials, forum, and so forth. I see a lot of people purchasing traffic with the "one shot deal" in mind. You know the score: traffic > dating PPL lander > affiliate offer website. Yes, you can make a heap of money doing it, but this is much better: traffic > capture > monetization (short-term and long-term re-marketing). The first time I began to purchase traffic and look at my EPCs, it was a battle to optimize earnings based, for instance, on CPC and EPC. Didn't take me long to realize I was being foolish, chasing those one-shots, instead of collecting. Anyway, to answer your question: it honestly cannot be answered, except in general terms: PPC, PPV, etc. So instead, I'll stick with this: make sure you develop a way to capture an audience and, to do so, a reason to make that audience want to be captured.

It depends on things what you want to sell I had good experience with traffic from exipred domains and they was relatively cheap, but I was doing affiliate marketing and promotion mobile antiviruses for example

Hi yestyle, I use revenue sharing sites to generate traffic to my squeeze pages and to my personal blogs. Revenue sharing ad packs are great because you get a decent amount of clicks to your website and on top of that you get your money back over a period of time.

I also used PPC in the past but this was a bit too expensive and the return on investment was not that great. You should always have ROI in mind when you buy traffic.

In this case you buy your targeted traffic only. Most of time it is common success more & more in the targeted traffic than the common traffic. Thanks.

Google Adwords is usually my first choice when buying traffic, its expensive but there is a reason for that, the traffic is top quality, plus there is tonnes of it.

You can also try Bing Ads, the traffic is very high quality, but lower volume than Adwords

PPC is still a very useful tool to quickly capture new visitors to your website.
You can get a great visibility on search engines and more.
But if it's mishandled the PPC can only become a new source of spending with little income, that many visitors but no actual customer.

You need to 'experiment' on different traffic sources. One size doesn't fit all. Unfortunately this (learning curve) does cost money. If you do decide to tryout different paid sources, make sure to take baby steps and have lots of patience.
