Why Its Better To Pay For Something Rather Than Getting The Exact Same Thing For Free!!!

Hey Warriors,

Now ive been doing some extensive research on product creation and information marketing in general and have come across some interesting information from various sources!

Now to the main point... "Paid is better than Free!"

You are probably read to reply to this thread and say no i love free stuff and if someone gave me something valuable and usefull to me for free then i would love them even more!

Now okay i personally love free information! Heck this forum is full of it!

However if your anything like me (which i know you are) then you pick up a free ebook and download it... it then sits on your harddrive and thats it! If your a bit better then you open it and skim read it and look to see if its any good, after all it is free so must be crap right?

Then if your really good you do actually read it all, word for word and actually you find it very informative and good! You may post a reply if it was given away in a forum or post a comment of some sort stating your thoughts, or even go as far to email the creator of the ebook, video or information and say thanks and how good it was!

But then thats it!

You STOP! You have all that information in your head, but then you don't do anything with it!

So in essence you have just wasted hower much time it took you to read it and then if you went that step further then to comment on it!

So then what was the point of reading it??

a). You like wasting time reading things that you will never impliment!

b). You love reading information on anything or everything that could possibly help you sometime in your online career!

Now both of thes options (which are the only two options if you don't do anything with the information) are BAD!

Lets look more at point 'A':

If you read that information but then never implimented it then thats who you are!

Now point 'B':

You need to focus, everyone of us has something else we could be doing to benefit our bottom line (money) and improve our business even if you are only just starting! If the product is not directly related to what you are currently doing or is on your list of things to do or learn in the next week or maximum of 2 weeks then leave it... it's free and will be there next time! Heck just bookmark it if it looks that good and you happen to stumble across it!

Okay now we draw our attention to paid products!

Now take this for a moment, many of the products online and even offline start off at a high price and then get lower and lower until eventually they are free (or very affordable for everyone)!

Take for example the nintendo wii!

It started off at a very high price, people waited in lines for hours to get it and pre-ordered at higher prices just to get there hands on it! Then as soon as they got it they rushed back home and set it up and played on it until they got bored! Just so they could be one of the first people to play it and tell their friends about it and whatever else!

Now take this same logic and add it to a online product that will effect your bottom line (money)!

Recently there was a WSO for a free product of something that sold for $625 i think it was just a few months earlier! I downloaded it and looked over it quickly but because it was free that was it.... it seemed to have lesser value than it did when it was $625 just a few months ago, yet is exactly the same!

Now if you had paid $625 for it you would have treated it just as you treated the wii! You read it, impliment all of it or at least parts of it and because you purchased it, it is more likely to be relevent to your business!

Now this is exactly the same for any free or paid product which can be the same or not the same!

Another example is i paid $240 to join affiliatejump just to get the bonuses, it took me about 1 hour to signup and download all the bonuses as well as look over a few of them quickly and bookmark the information pages to my browser!

That was about 6 hours ago now and yet still i have not setup the butterfly marketing script which was actually the whole reason i paid the $240 to join as it was a free bonus! Now its $240 or free bonus price tag doesn't make it as urgent as it was before when it cost $1400+ (i think that was the price)!

So i know this whole post is actually very long but i really wanted to get the point across!

There is a reason that products have a price tag and why other's are free and generally the free ones are there to then sell you a paid product and just capture your email address to sell you something that you will actually use and benefit from!

If you are someone who actually impliments every free piece of information that is actually good information then i respect you highly but still its back tracking you if it isnt directly related to what you are currently doing!

This also cover's high ticket products compared to products less than $100!

Finnally it also touches on a very controversial point about torrents and sharing of products too, personally i don't care too much and am not going to spend my time chasing after these people or sites who share my own products because i know the people who read them wont actually benefit from them yet my name gets spread round and then that causes people to remember my name and maybe buy from me in the future! Now if ive got your brain ticking then yes trhis can be used as a marketing strategy to get your name known in any industry too!

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and thoughts and remember to make use of your time the best you can!

I think when someone forks out money they are more likely to use it
If it was free it has no value to them, hence why most people I give free nutrition advice to fail while the people that paid me succeed. Strange isn't it?

...Than again, we all think different and I'll take free any day of the week...

    Tom,

On one level I agree with you. On another, I disagree. Some people whether it is free or $5,000 will buy something and not do anything with it. For example, Stompernet is very expensive. I have no doubt that if you join, you'll get a lot of good quality infomation that if you apply it will earn you the money to justify the cost.

However, I saw a few people commenting here that because the economy is bad they can't afford to subscribe to it anymore. In other words, they were paying for the information, the privilege to read it, if they were even doing that, but weren't doing anything with it.

Having the ability to whip out a credit card or pay out of a PayPal account doesn't equate with taking action to do the work in any product. Just because something isn't free doesn't mean people are going to do anything with it beyond paying for it.

      Jason your completely right!

There are always exceptions to the rule but on the whole people take action with paid products (especially the more expensive ones) compared to free products!

I think people will value something more if they pay for it but just because they view it as more valuable doesn't mean they're going to use it.

I've been guilty of that myself before. I joined a gym thinking that paying all of that money would motivate me to work out more. And it did for two or three trips to the gym. Then I never used that 6 month membership again.

But then maybe if you had brought the upsell of a personal trainer and paid more for the gym aspect of things then you would have gone!

lol @ adamv. I feel you. I got a 2 year gym membership, used it consistently for 3 months and then didn't use it again for the rest of the time that I had it. I think that's common though.

I'm personally one of those types of people that will read all the way through a free information product and apply what I've read. Everyone knows that there are some great free products out there and there are some bad ones. The same could be said about paid products.

For those of us who do read free products all the way through . . . we get a bit pissed off when we pay for a product and find the exact same information that we've already obtained through free methods. I could mention and compare a few specific products, but I'm not one to knock someone else's sales.

I do believe that paying for something gives you motivation to use it, as opposed to a free product. A lot of people would at least like to get their money's worth out of the product if they paid for it. Then again, there will always be the stragglers who won't use the information from any product they obtain, whether they've paid for it or it's free. That's their loss.
