Help With Split Testing Bing Ads

Hey warriors!

I would just like your help on something as I'm new to Bing ads.

I understand that it's common practice to keep split testing your ads and keywords to try to improve CTR.

What I would like to know is what data to use. So for eg if you have been testing an ad or keyword for say 1500 impressions and then decide to pause an ad or keyword that has been out performed, would you then start at 0 after you split test with other ads or keywords?

Bing has an option to select different time scales, so I guess what I'm asking is do you always use the "Entire time" option or the relevant day you have added a new ad/keyword when checking your figures.

I hope this makes sense!

  • Firstly, you need an outcome.

Are you looking to improve ROI, reduce CPC, reduce CPL or what?

Then, its best to test after about 30 - 50 clicks.

Timings is a different testing element altogether. Start by setting your ads to run the whole time.

      Thanks for you reply.

As it's a new campaign, I'm basically looking to get CPC down and get some ROI asap.

So if after day 1 and 50 clicks Ad 1 performs better than Ad 2, then on day 2 when you split test Ad 1 with Ad 3, do you use Day 1's data, so in effect Ad 1 has had more clicks then Ad 3. That's what I want clarification on.

I'm giving you a little from the compilation of lessons that i've learnt in the process of testing ads on the crowd. If you're a newbie,

    1. Find a Mentor
    2. Find a fellow newbies 4-5 and co-spend for ad testing and that you will only spend a fraction and learn more before you're comfortable balancing your spend and earn.

    Sample

    [Begin Quote]

    Lessons Learnt

    1) Every Product has a max product conversion rate that is specific to the traffic source even if placed on top.

    2) That max product conversion rate is almost constant for the top 3 (or) 'x' rankings/listings specific to each traffic source, so increasing the CPC to win the first position, though shall increase the CTR will not impact the product conversion rate, rather it will only increase the adspend while also decreasing the clicks recieved which when falling below the max. product conversion rate will negatively impact/reduce sales.

    3) Max CPC is the highest $ amount that brings in just enough clicks above the max product conversion rate which results in 1 sale.

    3) Place any Traffic in a straight line whose one end is a negative, Non Buying Zone and other end is a Postitive Buying Zone. Every test performed esp. on keywords (or) 'x' will filter and those keywords along the line from the negative extreme to the postive exterme. The result of the tests will then give us gold nugget keywords on the postive end of the line that can be targeted anytime to bring in sales. The optimal CPC is the central optimal balance zone of this line.

As you move from the negative end to postive end, you will encounter the following zones

    1) No Progress Zone: No CTR Zone (Set: $0.10 - $0.30 Achieved: $0.00)
    2) Loss Zone: xCTR, Min Product Conversion, xAdSpend and No Sale Zone (Set: $0.40 Acheived: $0.26)
    3) Sale Zone: yCTR, xMax Product Conversion, yAdspend and Sale Zone (Set: $0.60 Acheived: $0.40) [Optimal Balane Zone]
    4) Wastage Zone: zCTR, xMax Product Conversion. zAdspend, Low Clicks and Reduced Sales Zone (Set:$0.61+)

    where y= x++ and z = y++

    4) Optimal Balance Range

    Country: USA

    Method: Direct Linking

    AdCopy: Do Not Panic

    Timing: Day: Time:

    CPC
Min CPC (for this product): $0.XX
Max CPC (for this product): Set: $0.60 Achieved: $0.40

    CTR
    Converting CTR: 3%
Max. Product (60SecPanic Solution) Conversion Rate

    Search Networks

    BING
    Bing - Search Network : 4% (25/100 Clicks on 'X' Mood-Niche Keywords)
Bing - Content Network : x% (Not Yet Tested)

Well Bing works exotically like AdWords. they even have option to import your campaigns from AdWords. And well we all looking for ROI ASAP, but unfortunately u gotta spend few bugs unitll/if this happens.
If i understood your question correctly, once you create an ad/keyword it never goes down to 0 after pause it goes down if you deleted it and ad it again.

I am running campaign for a forex robot and I've paused my campaigns multiple times and they haven't restarted to 0. May be check out the date/period in your dashboard in the top right corner bing or google and choose the whole period form the beginning of your campaigns.
    Hope this helps.
