Best Affiliate Marketing Methods

I'm curious as to what you guys think is the best way to do affiliate marketing?

-Redirecting domains to affiliate sales pages
-Setting up a multi-product review/overview page
-Setting up a blog with affiliate links
-Other

The basic question isn't so much how to do marketing. It's more about what's the best way to set up a site for affiliate sales.

I'm most curious about redirecting domains to clickbank products. This seems like this would be very profitable. How many of you guys do it? And is it as profitable as other methods mentioned above?

As always, thanks in advance.

I'm interested in hearing more from the experts.

I'm told that Google frowns on direct linking or redirections although I have recieved decent quality scores with a couple of small campaigns. Unless you are bidding on very targeted buying keywords or product names, perparing traffic through reviews may be more effective.

Curious to hear what others have to say blog vs. site. Does Google still have a preference for Blogs? That along with ease of use may make blogging better.

Don't simply hand the seller all of the leads that you worked hard to get. Always use a squeeze page so you can build a list at the same time (then re-mail all of those people who didn't buy the first time).

IMO the days of redirecting are long gone especially for long term business also, read some place google are now penalising review sites.

For organic traffic a blog appears to work well as long as you don't over commercialise it and cloak your links.

As Kristy points out the money is in the list (back-end) this is yours and provided you can hold the readers interest with the odd free offer and build trust, you will win and build a sustainable long term business.

I have two (one I am active in and one I'm not)targeted niches that I know is already set to go to be a money maker, so this is how I have currently setup up campagins:

Targeted keywords via google keyword tool

Take PPC and direct traffic to a landing page w/ opt-in to FREE report (for both niches)

Offer PLR rights on these free reports (learned from someone on twitter)

Build both lists sending out newsletters no more than 1 - 2x a week.

Keep this simple. Learn the only the skills that'll get you the results fastest and really focus on completing one thing at a time until it's completed.

    BTW,

There are ppl still making money doing direct affiliate linking w/ paypal.

There perception is google penelizes you, but not really if you do it right. Not as good as building a list from that traffic, but a good quick money alternative

I think a good review blog is very profitable when done well.

The art lies in your own sales ability.

Can you sell without sounding "salesy", because if it's a talent you possess then review blog away

Personally, I've made all of my sales with bum marketing -article writing with Ezinearticles and Squidoo lenses. I have 5 wordpress blogs that are very salesy looking. I refuse to do reviews for products I haven't used so I give a short overview instead that leads to an affiliate link if the person reading is interested in knowing more. I'm mildly concerned that 3 out of the 5 sites won't convert well. As was mentioned, it takes a while to build traffic to a blog, so I probably won't know how well my 3 blogs will convert for a while.

Do you guys think it's better to have a forced opt in page(person has to sign up to get into your site) or an optional one? I switched from forced to optional and since then I have had 0 sign ups. Forced seems like the way to go.

    Hi OffTheMix,

I wouldn't mind knowing this too - I have tried both, with reasonable traffic figures but no sign ups at all - realize copy could be an issue but it would be good to get an informed answer from someone who is doing well with one way or the other.

    Best wishes

    My way, of course

But seriously... there are so many right ways, we couldn't possibly cover them here...

I will discuss a few of your points through to explain my view and opinion about them.

-Redirecting domains to affiliate sales pages
There was a time when I turned huge profits like this... the sheer numbers were enough for me...

Then, I got some affiliate smarts up my sleeve and realised that this is probably the worst way to start your affiliate business. You are essentially giving everything straight to the merchant without even a thought for your own business.

Build a business on solid foundations, which means creating your own portfolio of VRE.. building from that and promoting affiliate products within your own network of sites and portals.

    Setting up a multi-product review/overview page
This has been my most successful strategy in all affiliate promotions.

One domain, 5 - 10 products and a boatload of good content is enough for anyone to really get a good handle on a niche and turn big profits.

I usually have a squeeze page to build the list, and then a review domain with 5 - 10 products. A blog attached to this becomes extremely powerful for serving your content before sending it out to Article directories and other places like Squidoo, GoArticles, iSnare, Weebly, HubPages etc etc

-Setting up a blog with affiliate links
This is a cool strategy, although, I find with some strong backlinking, I can rank a blog very well... so I much prefer to use each blog as my own "article directory" in each niche.. so the process would go like this:

Visitor lands on blog article -> Article links to pre-sell product review/page -> my own squeeze page with "product focused freebie" -> merchant sales page

Of course, there are times when I leave the option open for the visitor to go directly to the sales page from the pre-sell page.. but that is usually niche specific and very difficult for me to explain in a forum post

It can be VERY profitable, but not nearly as profitable as other methods of funnelling the traffic to affiliate offers after you have grabbed the power play.

Wow, I don't think you could come up with a more perfect answer. That pretty much answered everything I was wondering about in a single post. Thanks tons.

I've been doing a blog for about 4 months and I am now in the process of creating a free report. To get traffic to go to my blog, I use facebook (posting links on my profile, friend's pages, fan pages and group pages,) Twitter, commenting on other blogs in my niche, and commenting in forums. I have found that no one is clicking on my affiliate links. I am being patient though because I really believe in the products I am promoting. However, I have read a few different things on this topic: should you insert affiliate links in your free report or should you wait to insert them into your final product (which is an ebook I want to market?) Thanks!

There are a lot of powerful affiliate marketing strategies. I think the best way in general is to build an e-mail list and work toward having an authority site at the same time.
