How on earth do I sell this thing?

Hi all,

I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to sales and marketing, etc. I've been looking around the internet for advice and guidance regarding selling a program I've just created, I came across this site and noticed that repliers don't give the poster shit, they actually try to help, which encouraged me to post something!

As I said, I know nothing about sales or marketing, what I know is health and psychology. For the past few months I've been working on a program called the Health and Happiness program which is simply a 30 day online course with videos, worksheets and homework from which participants will become much healthier and much happier. Now I'm trying to sell it before it's launch on the 3rd January.

I have a sales/landing page to sell the product through, I have started a little Facebook ad campaign but I wanted to find out what more I could be doing. I'm basically confused by it all, I heard about affiliates but don't know whether they actually need to see the whole product before selling it, do I need to be attached to some kind of program? Also, I don't have the first clue about SEO and backlinks, etc. Are there people/companies that offering a mentoring service for something like this? Someone that can go through this whole marketing aspect with me so that it gets done well but I also learn how to do it for myself?

I realise this is a very ambiguous post, what I'm trying to say is I'm lost and in search of help. If there is an 'idiots guide to selling your produc't that you'd recommend, by all means send me there!

Many, many thanks in advance,

Lee

Your best bet is to find an affiliate platform that will take care of the complicated details like Clickbank (that's an example, not a recommendation). You could try checking out Market Health that specializes in Health Products but I think they mostly do CPA offers, supplements, etc.

You would be a vendor (not an affiliate). The platform you choose should handle all the sales, affiliate payments and refunds without you needing to manage it all other than approving things.

If you Google or search YouTube you should be able to find articles videos about "How to be a Clickbank vendor" or "How to sell through Clickbank/JVZoo/etc".

You can look for similar products and see how they sell, how they advertise and what affiliate platform they use.

I highly recommend YouTube as a source for introductory learning.

There are various affiliate platforms you can used and some have been mentioned
already. Another option is to use a hosted membership site solution such as Teachable.com
or Udemi to host your course. After that you are left with driving traffic to your
offer. You said that you are already trying out FB.

If you want to learn marketing, I'll advise you buy a course on marketing. However, there are a ton of free materials on marketing your product effectively right on this forum. Just use the search function to uncover a ton of them.

But I will suggest you focus on your strengths and outsource your marketing.

It will make you more money in the long run. You could learn marketing on the side though.

Hey all, thanks so much for the replies! Affiliate platforms sound like the way forward, I'll definitely have a look on Youtube. I agree about outsourcing the marketing too, that's the dream, and I can't just have very basic knowledge to get me through.

Thanks again, have a great Christmas, I'm sure I'll be back in a few days!

I'm a newbie but from what I'm learning - a big one is networking and making connections with affiliates and having an enticing commission structure for your affiliates - maybe a 100% commission on the up sell product - great question - i'm right with you in terms of your thought process of where I'm at with building a product

Trecher, that's another good point, I need an upsell. I think it's going to be cheap one to one skype sessions with myself but it's definitely something I need to think about.

    Lee,

    Stop thinking "cheap".

If you know something valuable in the health niche, figure out what the most impactful thing you could do for people in that market is.

What problems are they suffering from?

Problems they admit they have. That you already know they'll start nodding and saying, "Yup, yup" about.

That's the subject of your upsell.

As far as marketing goes, I'd keep tweaking your FB ads. Spend small. Keep testing. Figuring out your own leadgen will, in the long run, be far better for you than relying on someone else...or trying to keep up with the SEO game (probably better to hire someone in that department if you choose to go down that rabbit hole later.)

A higher ticket offer will help you pay for better marketing.

It'll also help you make a better product.

So again, what's the biggest, most impactful solution you can bring to your clients' lives?

Using social media to drive traffic to a landing page can have wonderful results, but you are going to need to be doing a bit more than just an ad campaign. Consider working with someone who can create a strategy that's tailored to your specific audience and budget.

Check out The Ultimate Sales Letter by Dan Kennedy on Amazon. Definitely helped me when I was just starting out.

      Indeed.

An upsell ought to be more expensive. The clue is in the name.

Re FB ads I would send them to a squeeze page and get them on a list first before trying to sell anything.

If you send them directly to an offer you might get some to buy but who knows whether your conversion rate would make it profitable.

If you have them on a list you have multiple chances to convince them to buy from you.

  • Starting off with a good beginner's course will help you understand how online marketing works. You can search for free lessons in marketing/SEO websites. I love the SEO lessons from Moz. You may also check out the affiliate marketing lessons in Affilorama.

Well frankly speaking it is a born quality to sell these things.
One should know the basics of marketing and selling the products.
