Does online marketing really work?

Hello fellow Warriors. My name is Jino. I have been an observer of this forum since 2010. This would be my first post ever. I have read many books and purchased from many online marketers before. I have been in contact with some online marketers through their personal emails. I have no experience in online marketing except for what Ive read or heard others say.

So I decided to craft my own information product. But I became stumped really fast when I was done writing. I dont know how to gain leads in practice, I dont have a list, and Im halfway through setting up the website and I already have the copy for the squeeze page.

My question is, does online marketing really work? or am I better off doing something else? I have written to a couple of people for a joint venture and Ive yet to hear from them. I was thinking on charging 49.95 for the ebook and give 70% of the earnings if they would help me with venutirng plus some advice.

It is almost new year and I dont want to start 2016 in a bad way. That, plus I dont know how to get leads. Any help I can get, I can appreciate greatly.

Hi, jino, well before you get the usual half past nine, remarks, l will take a chance and offer some advise.

Yes, IM can be frustrating, if you do nothing, nothing can happen, but if you do something and it doesn't work, then you could blow most of 2016 on it?

I have blown 2.5 years on a website, 7 months on PPC, about 8 months on WSO's, (they probably can work, but not my thing) and the list goes on.

But one thing that l have learned, is traffic is the holy grail of IM, and Google Adwords, is next to useless.

So l have concentrated all of my efforts into sites that have their own paid traffic.

    • Tried Fiverr, didn't work.

    • Tried Graphicriver, that can still work, but it takes a while, (a few years l am led to believe).

    • And am presently putting everything l have into Creative Market.

Since CM, has millions of customers, etc, and they can put your product in front of that, given time.

So, 3 to 7k, in a week, is possible.

Obviously it isn't as easy as that, you have to be invited to set up a store there, (that took me a year).

And then work like a dog, for months on end before they give you a break, then the money pours in for a while.

Then you invest some of it into paying someone else to do some of it for you, and then get something else accepted quicker, blah, blah.

As for leads, best to contact people who have shown to be on top of things, and ask then if they would consider offering your product to their list.

And of course give them a freebie up front?

Quite a few will do it, but some will expect 100% of the profits up front, so a good back end may is needed.

    Good luck.

Its about crafting the perfect resume, I have a small background in managing people and I studied regular marketing, so I mixed both to create a book that uses marketing techniques to craft a good cover letter and resume.

        Jino,
Truth be told you aint going to have much luck JVing with peeps around these parts. You JV with people around here with MMO products or peeps who want to earn a commission on selling your Coaching Program that teaches others how to Coach others in being Coaches, LOL

I do a few Niches outside of MMO but unfortunately not in the Resume Niche.

    Does [online marketing] really work?

Well people are buying stuff from Ebay and Amazon aren't they?

Don't people sell their affiliate products right here on WF?

So yes it does work but not for everyone.

It won't work for people who keep lurking around here for years without taking any action.

Internet Marketing is not for everyone.

Online marketing really works, just in many cases it takes some time before you make it work.

As tagiscom said, same things don't work for everyone, so you have to find what will work for you.

And count it that it could take some time before you see any results. It took time for me, and it took time for many other marketers. Very rarely you will find "overnight success", so don't count on it.

Next, I don't know what your ebook is about, but if it's about IM and you don't have real life experience in that niche, I don't think you're capable of charging $50 for it. Although you can try.

What I would suggest you, if IM is your niche, is to put that ebook aside for some time, start with shorter reports and use them to:

    a) build a list,
    b) drive traffic to your squeeze page,
    c) build relationship with JV partners by offering your reports as bonuses to their products,
    d) build strong relationship and trust with your subscribers.

In other words, concentrate on building your list. That will allow you to have your own traffic source and subscribers who then might be interested in buying your $50 ebook.

But before you offer them your ebook, try to solve some of their problems with free content, and try to build your list along the way.

That's the easiest way for anyone to create something that could one day be called "a profitable online business".

Yes, it really works. For people who really work it. It has a steep learning curve that you'll have to overcome before you can live full time off your earnings from your online business. But, once you learn it life is great.

I saw you created an ebook about perfect resumes. Did you do any research to see if there was great demand for that information?

It's always best to find a hungry audience and craft a product they want to buy as opposed to crafted the product you want to sell and trying to convince them they should buy it.

    Hello, Jino

You do understand that asking this question is similar to asking "Does marketing work at all?" or "Is it possible to conduct business online?". Obviously, it's possible, it's just not as easy as some make it out to be. You need to know what you're doing and to get to that point you need experience. It's as simple as that.

You're the only one who can answer if IM is what you should do but it mostly depends on what you want. Most of online marketers are people who have tried many things, spent a lot of time learning and applying knowledge in practice. For most people, the first few tries are unsuccessful. It's rare that anyone would make big bucks with his first product or website. So, if you're the type of person who is willing to work and learn without seeing any real results at the beginning then go ahead. If you're someone who would rather settle for a stable income right away then just find a job.

How to get leads is such a huge question that it's impossible to answer in a few sentences. Leads can be obtained using any of the available traffic methods - SEO, PPC, social etc. You can use all of them but put emphasis on the one source you prefer and understand the best.

Hi, nice to meet a fellow lurker of this site.
I got to be that first one to give you a thanks.
I only got interested in Internet Marketing 3 or 4 years ago. 5 years, you got me beat.

I'm in the same boat as you, building the set up.
Try thinking of the path that a person would take, to get your ebook about crafting the perfect resume. As someone myself who has kind of been trying to look for a job, the sites I visit are indeed, linked-in, go2worksource, monster, craigslist, etc. Maybe I do a search and click and ad, someway I need to find your site or page where your summery or statement about an ebook about crafting the perfect resume next would be; click and buy, then finally download the ebook, and somewhere along the way you'd collect my email. To send a copy through email and to send another email later.

Well it worked for business that I started up because it was a passion and I applied what I learned here to it... and I have made a well paid part time income of it for 8 years.

But I have also tried just picking niches to start a business for the sake of hoping to make really big money, since my site I mentioned above has some growth restrictions.

However, every time I set out to start an online business just to make money, I don't seem to get anywhere, which is frustrating.

So my only advice is start something that you are passionate about and would do if you were making money at it or not.

That is because in business we have exponential, not linear growth so in the beginning results are slow and can be disappointing.

Hi Jino. It's not necessarily a "bad" thing that you begin a new year making *mistakes*. Just as long as you learn from them. Keep learning and applying. Yes, online marketing really does work, but you can't give up. It will never work if you do that.

Getting leads is the easiest thing in online marketing. Keep working on that and re-designing your landing page so that you reach a layout that captures at a great rate.

You can try pricing at $49.95, but i wonder if you have the discipline to leave the price as it is - even if you dont get sales within the next 2 months from it.

The worst way you could start 2016 is by failing to take action. Making mistakes is part of every learning process and Internet Marketing is no different. Don't be afraid to fail, find something that works and learn as you go.
