This Video is SOOOOOO 2009 - Over 7k posts

Sometime last week I hit the 7k post mark.

At the time I thought about sharing something recent I've learned, but couldn't decide what to share.

Today I was spending the day doing some youtube clean up to get ready for the new year, and came across this old video.

LOL, and so I thought it might be fun to share this, but I do have something else I've learned today so I'll pipe that in too.

So here is a quick thing I learned today.

Back in the day if you wanted to have numerous youtube channels you had to actually sign up for a bunch of different accounts. Today, you can not only combine those old accounts into one primary account, but you can easily create a lot of different channels all under that primary account as well.

This requires having a google plus account, and creating what I'm going to call "non location based" pages. This means you can make a google business page but no need to actually put in a physical address - which is great for all of your online businesses that you might want to create pages for.

Once you've created and confirmed the new business pages, you can easily log into youtube and there is an option there to link that page to what can be a new channel.

This means you can log in once to get to all different channels - which if you are in multiple niches then you might want to be doing this.

I will tell you after I confirmed about 6 of these, google wanted a new phone number to use for confirming - so if you need more than 6 be ready to borrow an extra phone.

I did just get the 7th one done

Just a simple organizational tip.

All I got for now.

    Oh! Almost forgot.

Tried using my new google voice # as the second verification #.

    It didn't like that.

Not sure I understand your question.

That particular video was not part of any specific SEO effort.

The only place it was shared in the past was here on this forum.

My only problem with that is that when Google gets a wild hair up its ahem, and closes your account... you lose absolutely everything, instead of just one slice.

Agreed. I think it's better to open a new account when you want to set up another channel. I like to have a new account for each of my niche blogs as well. For instance, let's say I set up a blog in the "type 2 diabetes" niche. I would create a new Google account just for that blog. This way the blog could have it's own YouTube account related to it's niche, it's own G+ page, etc.

Honestly, Google changes things so fast it's near impossible to keep up. My main fear of having all of my channels on one YT account is what what if YT decides they don't like one of the channels on a particular account and closes the YT account on me. Would I then lose all of the channels on that account or just the one they decided to close?

I think it's simpler and safer to just open a new Google account whenever you want a new YT channel. The issue with phone verification is very easy to solve. You can just get one of those cheap pay as you go phones. I've seen them as cheap as $10. Then you just to buy $5 worth of minutes one time and that should never run off if you don't use the phone to talk or text. Basically, for $15-$20 you can get around the phone verification issue. If you are a Craigslist marketer you can use the phone for that too.

That's why it's very important to behave yourself.

Seriously though, I know where you are coming from. My issue is I have had so many different things in so many different places that it's a pita keeping track.

This CAN be reverse engineered too I believe.

For example, if you want to experiment with making a new channel, you do it on your main account and later on you should be able to transfer that back out the same way you drag one in. I've not tested this though obviously so don't take my word for it. Will add to my list of "experiments".

$15 will get you 6 verified pages for that # and then you need to figure out what else you're doing with the phone.
I just happen to be at my folks place - which neither of them are ever making websites any time soon, let alone going onto google so it's a free number to use.

Easy to find a friend or family member who doesn't do online and just ask them if you can have a few texts sent to their phone while you rip out making the pages. All the actual pages can be done in 10 minutes or less.

There was something else - oh! I remember now.

So these pages you create can have a different "management" person added to them. This makes it easy too if you want to hire someone to go in and take care of this without divulging your main account information.
