Hello all,

My first post - wanted to ask you for your Top Tips for a brand new internet marketer...I have done small amounts in the past with Amazon but feel now I am going to try give it a good try.

I've started out, set up an account with Maxbounty and currently trying email marketing with that - I am currently renting interspire with a company but having issues with the emails going to spam at the moment...

All tips welcomed...

Thanks,

Tom

If you know very little it's always best to do your own research first so that when you do ask questions they are focused... That way you will get better answers.....
You will not learn from reading replies to a thread (Most of them short one liners) alone....

PS. There is very little that is "fresh", the same basic principles that worked years ago are still true today....

When I say 'fresh' replies, I mean replies from today - not that they are new ideas.

I have been studying this for a few weeks now.

Just wanted to hear peoples top tips.

          Cheers

I'm sure agmccall isn't trying to be rude or anything, he has a very fair point.

It's reasonable to want some "fresh" info, but the reality is the value you will gain from this thread, will not come close in comparison to the value available in all the existing threads. A day's knowledge vs a lifetime's, if you catch my drift.

Check out some of the highest rated posts that are similar/identical to the question you've asked. Rather than a few "fresh" answers, you're gonna see hundreds if not thousands of relevant posts.

Trust me it's worth the search

I've been promoting cpa offers for just over 16 years now. I do things a bit differently overall than most here.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead) offers, because there is no credit card required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form to make money. So conversion rates are typically much higher.

I favor offer that have some financial positioning...have a make, get or save money angle to them. This is what has overall worked best for me, as they tend to have the greatest mass appeal. So the potential exists to produce high volume.

There are many PPL offers that pay $20-$60 each or more depending on the vertical, that work well on a front-end campaign. Then those that pay less or regular cpa offer that require a sale, I will send on the back-end. The key being that the offer has mass appeal.

For traffic, I acquire data (email) VS what most marketer do, which is to buy ads/clicks that usually usually just turn into a bunch of one-time clicks, that can't be marketed additional offers to. So by acquiring data, I'm building assets that I then own and can market to over and over at low cost.

I acquire fresh targeted data, in that I know what the users are interested in and that I know there is a ppl offer that matches their interest. I generate real-time co-reg that targets specific ppls offers. I acquire aged data, which is a bit more involved and requires some additional resources.

Any time you acquire data, it's never going to be as high quality as subscribers that you generate yourself. So to compensate for this you have to work with volume. Which is totally fine, as you can scale much bigger and faster than you ever could. It's then just a matter of cleaning, pruning and segmenting the data into smaller more responsive segments, so that your eventually sending less and making more with each mailing.

The key to keeping yourself from ending up with a bunch of poor data is to always start with a small sample before spending a bunch of money. Then test it and get an idea how long it's going to take to break-even with. If it takes longer than desired, then you can try and negotiate a lower price, so that it breaks-even quicker.

I never worry about turning a profit, because what really matters is that you break-even on the data and preferably, as quickly as possible. Once you break-even, then your cost is $0 and you reinvest the money back into more assets. Also, once at break-even, it's not like I'm going to suddenly stop sending the data, so turning a profit at this point is pretty much inevitable.

There's a lot more that goes into all this, but it really does work. Everyone that I know that is in the business and know what they are doing, does 6-7 figures. While that is a very huge range, a lot really comes down to ones ability to scale and then effectively managing the infrastructure that comes with scaling.

    Anyway, something to think about.

Thank you very much for this, this is the type of reply I am looking for and help I need. I am trying, so far I have set up with Maxbounty, and Renting interspire, trying one offer but having issues with emails going to spam and therefore so far sold nothing....but I do 100% believe it is possible...

My issue is now managing the bounced emails as you say, any tips welcomed on how to manage emails, how to store emails and how to clean bulk lists for cheap/free?

      Appreciate your help

        Giantbrand,

From all your posts, this one statement (bold above), to me at least, is a huge red flag - a practice that will ruin your money making efforts very fast.

Is your current marketing method sending offers and links via email to names on a bulk mailing list?

If that's what you're doing . . . you should not expect to make any sales and you should expect to have people complaining to you and your hosting provider. These "prospects" of yours don't know you from Adam, they did not give you permission to contact them, and they have no reason to trust you or your emails.

I'm not surprised at all that you're struggling.

          Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply...I am new to affiliate marketing....

Good points raised - I purchase OPT-IN legal lists, but yes I agree with you - this is too random a method in many ways...

I am new to affiliate marketing so trialling and asking people who've been doing this.

Next up going to try out PPC.

I've had a small wordpress site set up because I do run a website design business - I will use this to promote offers...

From what I have read I need to set up an auto responder and list gatherer which I need to do, but I am also busy with my other businesses.

Anyway, any tips and tricks all welcomed

            Tom,

Yes, there are several things I would suggest as you start out - you may, in fact, be doing these already - I don't know.

The first is to do some simple market research to make sure that the market you're going into is actively looking to buy solutions to problems. Most folks come online to find specific things that will make their lives better - either companionship/love or acknowledgment, solving a problem they're having, or seeking entertainment. They will buy products that solve these needs, but you should understand exactly what these people or looking for in the markets you enter.

One of the best ways to see what people want is to go to Amazon and see what the best selling books and products are . . . these will give you a clue as to what types of solutions people are seeking.

Demand is already in the marketplace, but you need to know what that demand is so you can provide the solution (for a price) and make some money.

When you have identified your market, then you will be in a position to set up a web site and get an autoresponder going - it will help you to gather an audience of very targeted people - folks that give you their permission to market to them. That's your list. Treat it with respect and always provide real value to the people on the list. Don't just send them offer after offer.

Marketing these days is about gathering an audience, speaking to them about their needs/wants/desires, and giving them reasons to communicate with you. If you come across as a leader, an authority in the subject, they will listen to your suggestions and recommendations for products and they will buy from you.

What I'm suggesting, as I'm sure you understand, is that you have to really work at being a trusted adviser to people in the niche. "Cold calling" people that don't know and trust you will rarely make any sales. But by having a list of followers, you will be able to make multiple sales over time - that's the goal for having a list of subscribers.

            The very best to you,

            Steve

Tom, it's vital to collect the leads yourself and not to buy them in bulk.
Let them know you and provide them with good content and make them trust you. You will then have a list that trust you when you give them offer and they will be more willing to buy.

So yes, you need to get a proper autoresponder and set up an email sequence and also a squeeze page to capture the leads.
Not so hard to do and it won't take much time. The follow up sequence might though, but not the other stuff.

Start collecting email from day 1 and use Aweber or Getresponse. Keep add new list while engage with your email subscriber. Money is in the list if you have great relations with your subscriber. Treat them good and you will get reward later.

    1. Do seo with seo tools. Get top rankings for buyer keywords.

    2. Keep consistently writing reviews every week or month.

    3. Share on social media like facebook groups.

    4. Continue to create more things like a forum.

    Hi Tom

First I would like to wish you the best on your journey to be a Internet Marketer. A great decision if you follow through and don't get trapped by all the BSO's out there.

Reg your question. I believe the easiest start for a new person in IM is to learn affiliate marketing. The "only" thing you need is to drive traffic to affiliate products. "That's all"
To step it up some you should build a list so you can email market to them, but I understand that you already do that?
Eventually you will profit even more if you have your own product and also have other affiliates promoting your product.

So my suggestion to you: Don't fall for BSO's and learn how to drive traffic to good and solid products. That's a start.

Good Luck and let me know if you want to ask anything else

I think you have been missing the point there are recent threads on the same subject you want answers to and the ones who are trying to help you are very dismissive which will not help you in any way.

As SalesG mentioned if you ask a question that is framed you will get better answers, which will be better then the ones you get now but if you treat people the way you have been no one will answer in the future except sig spammers.

If you have been only here 2 weeks have some bloody respect take what you are told and use what you are not your brain! the best I could offer you right now is to look at the subforums learn how things are done and come back and asked the right question so you don't get crap answers or one liners.

Sorry just wanted to join the forum and ask a few questions - had some great response to the thread and appreciate everyone who has said something constructive. I run quite a few websites and businesses so it was just easier for me to just jump in and ask a few q's than troll through the whole forum!

Find a niche first. Something you like but it's not a must.
Learn about it if you are not familiar with it.
Setup a blog. You can use free services to start with.
    Write unique and good content
Promote it using various free sites/social sites etc..

Will take you sometimes to actually start receiving traffic and but it will be a long term thingo
Of course, you can automate all of this with multiple accounts but that's another story.

Do this first then go with the "other story" lol

Find the product first and develop your niche keywords before you commit money. If you did it right you will know what opportunities can be profited from, and this should make developing content simpler.

Spend $12 @ GoDaddy and get a domain, host, and e-mail for a year, which should be enough time to make it happen.

Another rule of thumb if you haven't made money on your endeavors in 2 weeks, you need to move on. Don't believe people who says it takes forever to see results. Would you work for six months straight to receive a paycheck?

Yeah so far I've purchased a domain, set up a small site, run some email marketing, run Adwords, run Facebook campagin, tried a couple different options, just analysing to see which is the best profit margain - either sticking to my existing businesses in Web design, Seo & branding, or branching into affiliate, or a mixture of all - Oh yeah, purchased a few domains to flip as well - I don't let myself get bored, life this side of forever is short!

You have only few offer in maxbouny which you are allowed to promote via email marketing very few, if you go and compare that to number of offers in general. Also do you offer some freebie to people who join your list? Our are you using purely just purchased list and you are not actively trying to acquire new subscribers?

Just starting out, got my landing page set up, made my first few CPA sales today working with a PPC expert who's helping me work it out - I think I need a better affiliate deal as this is a credit card one pays $7 cost per action...must be some bigger earners out there...

But at least I'm getting somewhere...

Tracking not set up yet getting to that soon!

          THANKS

So congratulation to your first conversions !

I personally think that 7 USD CPA is nice . You can surely find something better just remember that higher CPA can means that user need to perform some more advenced action as a sale. Therefore conversion rate can be lower.

    1. Concentrate most of your effort on finding pre-qualified sources of leads (traffic) who will already be interested in what you have to offer.

    2. Explain their situation to them better than anyone else.

    3. They'll opt into your list.

    4. Promote the solution to them. Intersperse with personality so they can start to differentiate you from everyone else. That way, when you...

    5. ...Continue to market to them with related offers, they'll already have the sense of knowing you.

There really isn't any magic to affiliate marketing.

Despite man's constant search for magic bullets, there aren't any super sources of traffic that apply to every marketer (eg. "Sign up for THIS, and you'll get a buyer out of every 100 leads, GUARANTEED!" Baloney.) You have to go find your own, and IMO this is the most important part of marketing.

A mediocre offer can perform very well in front of a pre-qualified audience who acknowledges they have the important problem the solution fixes. Far better than a great product or service that is badly marketed...to random people, most of whom don't have that problem.

Amazing how this holds so true. Sure some things can sell themselves but from a realistic vantage point it usually does not work out that way.The Marketing of your product and the strategies you develop over time in Marketing it (whether it be a mediocre or excellent product) will determine if you are successful or not in this biz

@DIABL0 I love the term "I acquire data"
Are you buying lists from others or creating them yourself via squeeze pages and if so how do you get traffic

The bulk of the data, I buy from data brokers. It's the fastest/easiest way to keep steady volume coming in.

    All tips welcomed...
Start with the little things first:

    - Change to Aweber or Getresponse for email marketing
    - Get your own website with your custom domain name, no renting
    - Selling directly on Amazon (not as an affiliate) is not even close to selling and marketing products on your own website
    - Don't rent list from list broker company
    - Don't sell "make money" or "internet marketing" books if you've never made money selling on your own site
    - Take it slow, and let paid advertising be your best friend.
    - Good luck

yeah, don't do what everybody tells you. at least the 80%. Go out and find the successful people or the 20% and do what they do.

Supply and demand and separating yourself from the crowd. Thats how you make conversions.
